hi! you might know me from posting somewhere in these forums over the years. if you don't, then well, whatever.

i started lurking in here due to a few friend recommendations, with zero money and zero knowledge. i eventually got the pokerstrategy starting capital, found my true love in the fast fold cash games (beat up to FR50) and grinded it up to some cool thousands in lifetime winnings with a lot of breaks and without ever depositing.

i would describe myself as a young talented lazy university student with the short attention span that is so common in this new generation and, as such, i love zoom.
from the very beginning, when the lowest available fast fold limit was FR5 on full tilt and i wasn't good enough to beat even that, i would already spend a few BI in shots there... then black friday came, and i was sad and grinded on everest poker (which was not under ipoker at the time), but as soon as zoom came to stars i moved my roll there and never really looked back at normal tables since.

my thoughts on the matter are: normal tables might net a higher winrate, but zoom is way more convenient and, most importantly, FUN! and, uh, a few more things which i don't want to elaborate on.

imo my biggest leak doesn't actually show up in my winrate, but it makes me lose A LOT of money anyway (in opportunity cost). that is, despite clearly being a winning player in my games, i switch interests very often and lose motivation very easily, and as such it's not rare for me after a few bad days to just randomly go a few months without playing at all.
even if i'm tired and/or busy with uni, my C-game should at least be breakeven (winning with rakeback)... it's almost as if i don't like money, what the fuck?

      so anyway...
sometime in the past year, i worked up a profit sharing deal with BrokeSoBroke behind the shadows :f_biggrin: worth it, i refined my zoom ideas and increased my vpip/pfr in a few points, all that while still managing to fold less! i also definitely have to thank him for being very understanding with me with regards to my university and mindset situations.
so well... for this year, i'll try to go for supernova and climb a bunch of limits along the way! it's definitely not "hard", but it will require not randomly quitting the game. :f_mad:

i'm currently playing sh25 zoom with a super massively huge bankroll of a bit over 80BI for the limit, going to move up when i feel like it. :f_eek: i'll be posting weekly updates, because daily updates suck for a variety of reasons.

oh, sometimes i also evaluate hands as a voluntary hand judge in the nanostakes forums!
i've played a fair amount of hands at these limits in the last year with what i'd call pretty good winrates (nl5) (nl10) and, while i don't evaluate much, when i do i try to give it my best effort and i hope that it shows. cya!

not getting into the merits of the idea (which was bad) i thought i had a gutshot on the flop, and the turn completed! easy bet turn and river for value ofc. i mean... wait...
of fucking course everything conspires for me to lose more, the one time this misread happens and i decide to do that i'm playing a 3bet pot and deeper. ouch :f_biggrin:

so it's one of "those" days, they always have it, you don't connect, and when you do it's only so that others have something better.

i think the play is decent, his range is probably capped (i expect a decent amount of folds on the river) and my hand is alright, A is sometimes good as well. i think his calldown is ok as well with the set blockers, though i'm surprised he bet that low otf.

raise ott probably better, i wanted to wait for a safe river and bet large or raise shove which is dumb.
i also considered raise flop with the idea of checking behind turn on non-K/diamonds and betting big on those, though getting 3betshoved on would be dumb and float is decent i guess. raising could easily be better with some info

hand against two random nitfucks. i intended to check/shove against one of them, but when one bets and the other shoves its a pretty damn clear sign to get the hell out of the way. not sure why i didn't find a fold in-game despite actually not finding how i could be beating both of them when the highest card is a T and i have the A:, i'm dumb i guess

Hello Tomaloc, I remember your old blog and I really missed these GIF hand histories, they always put a smile on my face :f_thumbsup: .

Keep up the good job, I hope you'll find the strength to keep going through the hard times this year. Good luck!

      hey, thanks! glgl :f_biggrin:

here is a list of good spots to call 3barrels light against typical nl25 regs:

on the other hand, there are plenty of reasonable spots to call 2barrels light:

apparently i'm getting close to 100 BI for nl25 and i'm starting to feel way too comfortable on the limit, so it makes sense to just move up already. nl50 HYPE (?)

      let's post the yearly graph:

this is when some pros would just hide the EV line and be like "look at how hard i'm crushing these noobs LOL!"
as far as i'm concerned, i'm not ashamed of embracing the blessing of the flipping gods. the EV winrate is still ok anyway...

here's a random questionable hand for fun against typical random nitty reg

actually i'm not too sure how to play this one.
i think the flop check is alright, but the turn x/r is too small given the intended target range.
another idea is to bet, hope that a Jx raises and x/shove the river but i'm not too sure...

      short weekly update (it's sunday)

i thought the week had already gone to hell when i lost 7bi on sunday and monday, but thankfully things went smoothly after that as the previous graph shows.
so i'm taking shots at nl50 and these guys definitely mostly aren't that good, i should fit in fine :f_biggrin:

      low volume so far

a bit bad, but definitely fine. i got AK into AA and i think i got coolered in a few standard spots, though on the good side there's that hand above and a bunch of minor pots.
thankfully i'm not short on br and let's see what the next week brings, supernova should be ez if i win a little bit to estabilish that psychological cushion

What's your thought process in that AK vs AQs hand? Doesn't feel like there should be any hands you beat here except AQ. Then again, you take that line with KT next hand so I guess if you are playing against yourself there are plenty of hands villain can have :)

yeah, i totally get your point. i don't want to imply that i'm a sick soulreader, in fact i'm completely aware that most plays are very spewy :f_biggrin:
this blog is just meant to keep myself entertained (and maybe others) and i prefer to post "amusing" hands rather than "good, interesting" ones where i actually might have played somewhat decently.
