      Hi all,

Been a member on here for a while but have had a long break from poker. After being in hospital and reading a couple of poker books that I had on my kindle I caught the bug again and I'm back playing.

Although I play for fun I do want to aim high and try and get the best out of myself.Because I don't take playing too seriously I don't stick to BRM too much but try not to go in way over my head.

My wife works a few nights a week so I stuck $10 on PS last week to see where I get. I am currently at $60.

I play whichever games take me fancy so depending on my mood I'll play cash, SNG or MTT and have had success in them all in the past.

My first aim is to get my bankroll to be able to play in the UKIPT mini next month at Dusk Till Dawn Nottingham which is £110 ($165). This may seem easy to some but I don't get too much time to play.

I have booked Friday 10th April off work. There are 2 times to buy in on that day. I hope to play at 14:00 but if I'm short I will play all day in hope to get the buy in and play the second time slot 19:00.

This event is 200k gtd plus 50 seats to the UKIPT main event but if I dont make this then I'll be hoping to play the $1M gtd Party Poker Grand Prix in May.

This blog will hopefully be a bit of fun and help me keep track of my poker future.

I also play a cheap £5 league game every Monday, bad structure and doesn't suit my game at all but a lot of fun and if I manage to take it down theres my buy in sorted.

      Lets see what happens :)

      Hey Nosssweat,

Really nice opening post. As someone that doesn't get the time to play as often as I would like to, I can certainly identify with your position. Nice to see that you still see the game as a bit of fun rather than just a way to grind profit.

      Have fun :gl:

      Cheers Lazza

Played 4 6-max Sngs last night, these are probably my main game. Won 2 Lost 2 so BR up to about $64

Also played a freeroll I had a ticket for on Winner Poker and came 11/230 running QQ into KK AND AA for a massive pot. Won about $4 and played 2 Spin & Go's which I lost lol. I have a few freeroll tickets on Winner so I may try and do start from zero challenge after I have got my live buy-in sorted.

Hopefully play more this weekend and looking forward to some MicroMillions next week :)

      Hi All,

Not had chance to update this until now.

Pretty awful weekend for me online lost about half my roll (I did say I didn't stick to BRM too much) in a mixture of cash and SNG. I think I'm going to stay away from cash a little from now on, I'm definitely better at SNGs and mix in a couple of MTTs and looking to play a couple of MicroMillions events which should be fun.

Last night was the finals in the Monday league I play. Top 20 people play for a trophy and added money from the club we play at. I joined pretty late so wasn't in the top 20 so wasn't sure whether to go or not (they have a few SNGs running ).

I decided to go but not feeling like playing poker at all. 18 of the top 20 turned up and with me being the next highest ranking player to turn up (24th) I got a place in the tournament. £250 prize pool for £5 with only 20 players, seemed like a decent game (also got a free £5 bar voucher, Bonus!)

Started off terrible, I just couldn't get my head in the game, I folded to a bet when 5 hearts where on the board which should have been a split pot and just wasn't playing well at all.

With the break looming I wanted a double up or nothing and looked down at A9 so I stuck in a 2.5BB raise and got one caller (who was pretty tilted from the hand before) flop comes Ax9, it all goes in he has AT and a needed double up from a nice bit of luck.

Feeling a little better a couple of hands later I look down at KK so stick in the same 2.5BB raise and get 1 caller. Flop comes Qx9, I raise just over half the pot and get another call. Turn is another Q, I was fairly sure the player had a Q and was pretty certain they were shoving whatever I did so I checked and they did shove. I managed to fold KK and she turned over 99. This was where I started playing well. I have always struggled to lay down hands like AA KK when I know I'm probably behind.

Fast forward to the final 6 (4 paid) I'm the shortie having not had a hand I could play for a while. I get it all in with JJ (split pot when board runs a straight) and another split pot AQ vs AQ.

Onto the bubble in the big blind. UTG shoves and small blind calls. Look down at 2 black aces, I have just a little more than the player all in so I manage a triple up and into the money. (taking my second £1 bounty of the night)

Few more hands go by and we are heads up. He has probably 3/1 chip lead on me so I was shoving in any spot I thought I could get away with it. I get dealt T8 and just call the small blind. Flop comes 235 no flush possible. It gets checked round and the turn comes another 3. Checked again and the river is a ten. I figure I'm ahead and go all in and get called. He turns over 23 for a full house and thats me in 2nd for £63 including bounties.

Not a bad night considering I didn't feel like playing at all and was expecting to play a SNG but managed to get into the final.

That puts me at about $125 not too far from my target and lets me play the $3 SNGs (yes I'm going to start sticking to BRM a little more)

Sorry for the long post, onto the MicroMillions :)

      Bit better tonight.

I usually only 2 table but I've gone up to 4 which seems to have worked well.

Played 9 6max SNGs tonight and cashed in 7.

Adding an extra table has stopped me from playing too many hands. I always like to play quite a few hands but I think with 2 table I was too tempted to play hands that I shouldn't.

4 tabling while heads up in them all proved difficult though :)

Cracked aces twice tonight also, people trying to slow play them while I was in big blind.

      MicroMillions time!

I always enjoy the MicroMillions but looking at the schedule (and my bankroll) I won't have much time to play too many of them.

      Ill be starting tonight with
      Event 3 - $3.30 6-Max ($50,000 GTD)
      Event 4 - $5.50 Zoom ($75,000 GTD)

Fingers crossed for a good start so hopefully I can play a few more and challenge for a top 100 place on the leaderboard

Im off out Saturday night for a curry and some beers :f_drink: so the tournaments I was planning to play then won't be happening.

Im at the league again on Monday night so the next one I can see will be next Wednesdays $4.40 Knockout but like I say if i managed a decent cash tonight I will try and play a couple more hoping for a Sunday Million ticket or two :f_biggrin:

I will be playing the $11 Sunday Storm and depending on how I have been running the $22 main event.

Hopefully fit in some SNGs tonight too so looking forward to a good nights poker!

      Quick update for tonight.

Not a great one really, couldn't hit anything and been rivered more times than I want to think about.

I only played the $3.30 6-max in the end and managed a min-cash

I have played a lot of 6-max SNGs tonight and not done great. Overall I think I broke even with maybe a small loss.

I am finding it much easier to deal with tilt since adding an extra 2 tables. I don't have as much time to think about the beats when I need to make a decision on another table so really glad I tried that.

Poker gods against me tonight and I definitely wasn't playing my A game so to just about break even is a positive result I guess. Ill probably play some more SNGs tomorrow and lay off the MTTs till next week. Apart from tomorrow I won't be playing online till Tuesday so its a much needed break I think, I'm not used to grinding all night and I must have played the most SNGs in one night in a long time tonight.

All in all I'm trying to looking at tonight as a positive as it could have been a lot worse :f_biggrin:

      HI everyone

Had a pretty awful time at the tables recently. Running so bad. Everything I try and play is topped or doesn't hit. Straights beaten by flushes and everything in between.

I probably shouldn't have played the league game on Monday but a friend was back in town and we always go when he's back but I was up at half 5 in the morning and did not play well at all. I can't remember any hand really apart form the last hand which was my set of 8s being beaten by a rivered straight.

Out of the MicroMillions Knockout last night from a terribly played hand only collecting one bounty.

My bankroll currently stands at about $90 so I'm going to have to try and play through if I want to make the buy in for the UKIPT mini.

Turns out the buy in is £100+20 so I'm about half way there at the minute with two weeks to go

Just got back from the league game, bubbled out in a horrible hand.

4 remaining with 3 paid. I was third in chips with one pretty short stack another guy just a little more than me a the chip leader with quite a big lead.

Folds to me on the button with KK blinds 1.5-3k so I raise to 7k

Small blind (shortie) folds and BB (just above me) tanks then calls.

Flop comes something like 7Q4 so I go all in hoping to take the pot there and then.

He thinks again for about a minute then calls with 78.

Turn is a turn is a 6 and rivers a 5 for the straight.

Absolutely gutted, if I had won that then there would have been the two short stacks and me and the chip leader about even.

My run bad phase seems to be levelling out a little online. Somehow I managed to break even even though I couldn't hit anything and everyone was hitting against me but the last couple of days its been going in the right direction.

Online BR stands at just over $95.

I have decided to buy into the UKIPT Mini out my own pocket and leave my online bankroll where it is in a hope to build it up and move up limits.

My main aim is to get to Silver star next month which should bring me the first Stellar Reward & $10 bonus for 1000 points. Should be a nice addition to my bankroll.

Im going to be playing mainly 6-max SNGs and maybe the odd MTT.

      60 BI = $90
I'll take a shot at $3.50 when I get to $160 and move back down if I end up back at $90

Start of a new month so I thought I would set myself a few goals.

I want to try and up the volume a bit online so I am aiming for 750vpps a month. If i manage to hit this then it guarantees me regular stellar rewards as well as some cash that I can exchange for my fpps.

I have worked out a bankroll management that I think suits me well which is not too strict but hopefully gives me enough to last through a downswing.

I will work on 30BIs at 6-max SNGs but if I manage to make 20BIs at the next level I will take a shot. If I lose those 20BIs then back down a level.

My bankroll currently stands at $82 so I will be playing the $3.50s unless I drop down to $45. Also helps with earning 750vpps.

      April Goals:
      Earn 750vpps - 8.20/750
      Stay at the $3.50 level
Watch at least 4 videos on 6-max SNGs (any recommendations?) - 0/4

And of course TAKE DOWN THE UKIPT MINI (then the main event :f_biggrin: )

Decent night last night. Won a few $3.50s getting my bankroll up to $115

Decided to give a couple of hyper turbos a go. Didnt get on with them at all really. Played 12 $1.50s with a couple of cashes which ended up in a $9 loss. Think I will be keeping away from these unless I'm way down on volume towards the end of the month. I

Been up and down today and last night. Had some horrible beats. Was down to $75 last night and got even worse tonight where I got down to about $50 with a set of 4 running. Managed to get a few good cashes at the end of tonights session finishing at $90 which isn't far from where I started. Holding out for more than one day of running good so I can start thinking about the $7 games.

My volume has been good the last couple of days due to the easter break. Not sure if I'm going to the league game tomorrow but I probably won't be playing online tomorrow either. I'm 237vpps off my first stellar reward which should come at some point next week followed by silver star and a $10 bonus the week after.

      April Goals:
      BR - $90.71
Earn 750vpps - 132.93/750 (ahead of daily requirement)
      Stay at the $3.50 level

So the time has come. UKIPT mini is tomorrow. I am playing at 2pm the first 14 levels then hopefully back on Sunday for day 2.

I'm going to play a little online tonight to get me in the mood then try and get a decent nights sleep. I may play a couple of sets tomorrow before I go though. Not too much to fry my brain but to get me in the swing.

Online has been very up and down as usual but I'm not too worried about that. I seem to be running terrible last night I lost with aces twice kings once and queens once. All in the late stages all in preflop.

My volume has been down due to the bank holiday, me and a friend went to watch Notts County play (boring 0-0 draw) then we went to hooters for wings and beer! :f_drink: but after the tournament this weekend I should be able to make that up no problem.

Ill try and update from DTD for anyone that interested and wish me luck :f_thumbsup:

Good night to get my confidence up for tomorrow. Started on $77 and was looking like a terrible start but had a good run of mostly first places and managed to get up to $120. Played a $2.20 Zoom MTT and went out when my aces were cracked by KQ for quite a decent pot.

If I have a good run like that again I can hopefully start thinking about taking a shot at the $7 games which will help my vpps a lot.

Time to have a rest tonight, watch the rest of the masters and get in the right frame of mind for tomorrow, lets hope my good run extends to the weekend.

      April Goals:
      BR - $120
Earn 750vpps - 189.73/750 (off track but should be able to catch up)
      Stay at the $3.50 level

Well today didn't go well at all. I don't think I played badly but ran into a couple of bad spots and one hand were my AdJd on an ace high flop with 2 diamonds was beat by AK. That hand pretty much took 60% of my stack and from then on I didn't see a picture card for 2 levels.

Ended up getting it all in with 66 vs KJ and a J high flop finished me of.

I'm disappointed not to have lasted longer but I can't say I would have played any hand any other way than I did and sometimes its just not your day.

I'm looking to play the $120 grand prix next month with $1M guarantee prize pool.

Well I've had a pretty good weekend so far in the gambling world, apart from the UKITP mini that didn't go very well.

Backed a 33/1 winner in the Grand National today for nearly $60, withdrew most of that to put on Pokerstars and left about $4 on and spun it up to another $60. I never play casino games but seeing as Pokerstars was down again I decided to have a play.

Played a couple of tournaments on Full Tilt and doubled my money in both so I'm rolled to play the $7 games now.

      April Goals:
      BR - $233.79
Earn 750vpps - 225/750 (still behind but should be very easy on $7s)
Stay at the $3.50 level (gone above but due to a horse win - which I'll take :f_biggrin: )
Watch at least 4 videos on 6-max SNGs (any recommendations?) - 1/4

Are you in the meanwhile back on track on your VPP goal of this month or still behind?
Further I wish you all the best to play a UKIPT event in the future :gl:

I caught up but I have decided to take a break from online for a while. I'm hoping to play the Dusk Till Dawn Grand Prix next month with $1M GTD for $120 but that's all I have planned at the minute.

I'm off to Disneyland Paris at the end of next month so too then going down to London to see Foo Fighters at Wembley so probably will stay offline till after that.
