      :club: About Me :club:

I am 24 years old from the UK and I work in scientific research, I love to keep fit I've gone to the gym religiously 4-5 times a week for the past 4 years, putting on 5 stone in the process! I've played poker since I was 18 for fun, My poker career has had some ups and downs I won a few thousand $ a couple of years ago playing hypers way out of BRM and cashed out before my luck ran out, tried to play a bit after but was trying to chase big money so I've come back to start over hoping this blog will keep me focused on specific objectives and track my own progress with some for the expert advice on my hands

      :spade: The Plan :spade:

I'm starting with a bankroll of $50 on Pokerstars, I love the site and the software so it's a no brainer I'm aware the opposition are perhaps a bit tougher but I would rather face the best, I will start at 2nl and move up to 5nl at 25bi, 10nl at 30bi and 25nl at 30/40bi I will be more cautious on moving limits as my bankroll increases. I have no specific goals but if I can maintain a good win rate and perhaps earn a few hundred $ a month for a little bit of luxury money I'll be more than happy!

      Objectives

Why don´t you raise preflop here ? What was the plan ?

I think UTG+1 was raising almost every hand, I wanted him to think he was controlling the pot he was throwing $ in. not sure if its the correct play still trying to get in the swing of things !

Due to being very liable to tilt which I seem to do often I put restrictions on my pokerstars account only enabling me to play 2nl which I will lift once I reach the required roll for 5nl :) I lost 4bi's very quickly and haven't had much time to play since so I've topped up my roll again to $50 have all the limits in place and going to start at the very bottom.

hopefully a new phase i've had a long time out of poker and it showed when I tried being way to aggressive with my BRM

what would of been correct play here? I figured he had a pair or aces or was on the flush draw? bit angry at myself for this hand to be honest I think it was an obvious read he had the nuts or either pocket AA or 77?

Is this zoom or normal tables?
I don't like those 2x raises on flop? Pot it and after that 4bet shove and that's it.

I’m no cash gamer player, but I would raise pre-flop with 55 and limping first in I only do at the SB sometimes. This way you can win the pot without contest or play the hand in position with initiative.

As played his line looks extreme strong. I don’t think he will ever 5 bet so small with a flush draw. So I guess you should be happy if you’re dealing with 2 pair, but I’m afraid you will deal with 77 and AA most of the time. So I would fold on his shove for sure.

If you also want some feedback of cash game players I recommend posting this hand also on the hand discussion board.

      Cheers,

Thanks for advice you both, I thought i would be against 77 AA most of the time, but only after the play I need to learn to take a breath and assess the situation and fold if I have doubts I think I almost wanted to confirm with myself he was holding pocket pairs. I'll take note for future :f_drink:

I had no stats on this player, being 2nl low limits I assumed he was on a flush draw. would of this been correct play if he had of been, should have I known he had the nuts or pocket pairs and hit the trips? I thought by his 3bet I had him on a flush. I think I just get too committed when I have AA and automatically think I'm winning

This is an interesting hand. I would fold even against a lead and a min-raise. I expect your behind against a set most of the time and sometimes you walk against a funky played straight. I don’t think the short stack wills min-raise too often with a draw like this. Could be a good hand do discuss about.

      Update;

Been working really hard on my game taking advice and watching videos, trying not to get to drawn into big pots unless I'm confident beating it 36bb/100 at the moment so on a massive heater :f_biggrin:

Also got my first $10 VIP stellar award

Spent $4 on a few micro MTT's don't really enjoy them too much so doubt I'll dabble anymore in them

      new roll : $74.47

      Update:

5.5K hands update still running super hot! no big hands to discuss. I've learnt at 2nl if you hit your hands never raise, they will try to bluff you off every pot. as soon as I start raising they fold. but check/call and checking back the river seems to be working well with most opponents which is good as I never feel forced to loose many chips letting them control the pot.

Also my red line is flat it's becoming easy to bluff pots against them they fold to triple barrels most of the time. I think since dropping back down to 2nl I've improved on my game a lot very happy! hopefully be going to 5nl soon :)

      I'm currently winning;
      2nl Zoom : 12.38bb/100 (2800 hands)
      2nl 6 max : 55.24bb/100 (2400 hands)
      combined : 31.9bb/100

clearly doing a lot better at 6 max my zoom roll seems to fluctuate a lot most flips i loose on zoom I need to learn people in general have a tight range and adjust

      Bankroll : $89.81

      Update:

so my past 5K hands have been very up and down as you can see well below my +EV lline now, I've been sucked out on the river more times than I can count but keeping a cool head

I'm going to quit zoom poker seems to be the route of my variance,

      Zoom 4,996 hands : $4.51 4.51bb/100
      6 Max 4786 hands : $37.16 38.85bb/100
      combined : 16.7bb/100

as you can see I'm crushing 6 max

Also got a FPP $10 bonus

      Bankroll: $96.23
