      i knew i was getting implied odds on the turn when i called so i think it was an acceptable play

      Im often 3beting 87s IP against a TAG.Against a fish/maniac your line is fine.
      I may raise the flop,it hits him rarely.
      You are not getting enough odds(even with Implieds). You have 14% on the turn against his going broke range {JJ+, 66-55,AJ(only looser players)}and you need 16% to call.And thats if you are sure that he's going broke always if you hit your hand. He may also be second barreling here,and just check the river.

      Calling flop is fine, but you should fold turn, since board is sdrawy, he could have flushdraw/boat and you don´t very good pot odds to chase oesd.
