Hi everyone... its time to give this a second shot.

My name is Christian and I am a student in Singapore studying business management. I started playing poker roughly a year ago with friends and started playing online afterwards. I deposited and lost multiple times. Small amounts all the time so I didn't care.
Then I came accross this site and got my starting capital... lost it all.
Right after I build up 10$ to around 150$ or so and yeah lost it all again.
Then I deposited 50$, build it up.... and lost it all except 5$ or so. Played a tourney got second place... had roughly a 100$ afterwards. Now I finally woke up... took me quiet some time but it thankfully happened.

I moved the 100$ over to pokerstars and started following BRM for BSS.
I started grinding NL5 SH since I had experience in NL but didn't like FR. First 7500 hands or so were breakeven... but afterwards it went up and I started to understand how to play profitable SH.
After 12k hands I had the bankroll for NL10 SH and switched over.
Now after roughly 30k hands I hit the 500$ mark (100$ bonus was released) and I am rolled for NL25, however I won't start playing it yet since I'd like a more conservative BRM for this switch.

So here are my goals for the rest of December:
Switch to NL25 SH on Full tilt since I get rakeback there
Learn how to play wider hand ranges on SH profitably, such as suited connectors and one gappers

Will keep this blog updated with my sessions and so on.

Oh and here is my graph so far:

Ok, I'll be the first one to mark the territory. :P

Glad to see you finally came to your senses.
I think more than half job is done and the other half is hopefully never going to end - constant improving and moving up the levels.

GL and I'll watch your blog with interest!

      Thanks for the comment

Ok I played some NL10 today and was up 7$ after 3 hours or so. Not that nice but still.

So I decided to give NL25 my first shot. First it went well and I made like 10$ but then started loosing 30$. Hence overall I lost 10$

NL25 is different, players are way more aggressive. Once I started loosing I was playing on scared money and was too tight and ended up loosing more.

      This hand for example:
      $0.1/$0.25 No Limit Holdem
      6 players
      Converted at weaktight.com

      Stacks:
      UTG StubbyBeav82 ($20.85)
      UTG+1 :maSkraP: ($25.00)
      CO bonzen3010 ($29.25)
      BTN Hero ($24.30)
      SB tnc101 ($50.95)
      BB lixlix ($42.65)

      Pre-flop: ($0.35, 6 players) Hero is BTN J:spade: A:club:
3 folds, Hero raises to $1, 1 fold, lixlix raises to $3.50, Hero calls $2.50

      Flop: 4:spade: 5:heart: K:diamond: ($7.10, 2 players)
lixlix checks, Hero bets $5, lixlix calls $5

      Turn: J:heart: ($17.10, 2 players)
      lixlix checks, Hero checks

      River: 3:heart: ($17.10, 2 players)
      lixlix checks, Hero checks

      Final Pot: $17.10
      lixlix shows: Q:club: Q:spade:
      Hero shows: J:spade: A:club:

      lixlix wins $16.30 ( won +$7.80 )
      Hero lost -$8.50

I could have prevented this easily on the turn by moving all in, unless villain really doesn;t believe I have K. But since I was scared to loose my money I checked it down, although I knew villain was not holding K.

Anyways... will play NL10 again from now on. Am somewhat disappointed of this first attempt.
10$ loss was variance (my 10 10 over pair ran into a set of 9s) but the rest wasn't. NL25 doesn't feel right to me yet. People just 3-bet me whenever they shouldn't and when I do hit monsters... like set of A... they of course fold.

Overall its just... that making a 25$ loss is something I am pretty much afraid off. I can loose up to 5BI with my BRM, however... thats 125$... really not good. So am kind of in a dillema.. I do want to move up because the money is just way better, but the potential loss is messing with my head.

Hi Christian, good to see you having another go.

^ I've thought exactly the same thing. Was doing ok at NL10, then tried to play exactly the same on NL25 and big big downswing. Think steals/resteals are bit more effective on 10, whereas have to restrict their use a little more on 25. So I'm now back on NL10 and trying to get my game watertight before having another stab at 25.

Good luck buddy, will be visiting your blog regularly and wishing you every success.

      Ok cheers man
Played a bit more NL25... 7$ more down same thing with AJo again haha.

The thing is... I need to look at this differently. I have a 15$ loss for the day... thats not even a BI. I can make like 3BI roughly on a good day.
My biggest downswing on stars was 6BI-7BI Nl10 and not even then I was thinking like I do now.

Maybe I should just stop caring about the money and play normally again. Will take a rest and continue with NL25 later on or tomorrow.

I think I will put my stop loss at 400$, meaning I can loose a total of 4BI before I switch down to NL10

      Edit:

Maybe I should cut that short.... I alrady lost 50$ in a span of 300 hands... kinda feel sick about it now

Ok last thoughts (yeah edited my previous post)

SH is swingy as usual.... and since I am playing with more money now it seems like the end of the world some times when it goes down.

I need to control myself more.

I have ended my first day of NL25 very positivly now, beeing almost 85$ up.

The following hand is the single most biggest pot I have ever won so am also quiet happy about it:

      $0.1/$0.25 No Limit Holdem
      6 players
      Converted at weaktight.com

      Stacks:
      UTG Hero ($54.90)
      UTG+1 MHadley ($37.15)
      CO 234hh53h53 ($25.30)
      BTN flushgreg77 ($38.70)
      SB nectrust ($27.25)
      BB PiS.Juliam ($15.30)

      Pre-flop: ($0.35, 6 players) Hero is UTG Q:diamond: A:diamond:
      Hero raises to $1, 2 folds, flushgreg77 calls $1, nectrust calls $0.90, 1 fold

      Flop: A:heart: 5:diamond: 5:club: ($3.25, 3 players)
nectrust checks, Hero bets $2, flushgreg77 raises to $6, nectrust folds, Hero calls $4

      Turn: K:spade: ($15.25, 2 players)
Hero checks, flushgreg77 bets $10, Hero calls $10

      River: Q:heart: ($35.25, 2 players)
      Hero bets $21, flushgreg77 goes all-in $21.70, Hero calls $0.70

      Final Pot: $78.65
      flushgreg77 shows: 9:spade: A:club:
      Hero shows: Q:diamond: A:diamond:

      Hero wins $75.65 ( won +$36.95 )
      flushgreg77 lost -$38.70
      nectrust lost -$1.00

Next is the final graph of todays session:

Right now I am also not scared anymore to play for 25$ and push it all in. Will see how it goes for the next few days.
If all goes well I will transfer my entire roll to Full tilt and will continue playing there.

omg you wanna join me in some nl25 action on full tilt... !!!

Good to see your doing good atm :)

But meh I'm still scared as f**k every all in with $25 although my bankroll is almost enough for nl100 hhaha :P

edit: I read through few of your older posts and came across this:

Overall its just... that making a 25$ loss is something I am pretty much afraid off. I can loose up to 5BI with my BRM, however... thats 125$... really not good. So am kind of in a dillema.. Don't be so money orientated in your first steps at this game.. Just move up when you feel confident and if you feel like you've learned everything you can at the current limit... Like you prolly know and has been written everywhere on this site poker ain't a get rich quick thingy :) ... So just study and play a lot of hands and move up when you feel confident and when you feel like your good enough for the next limit... Play on every limit is pretty different so well it'll take few days to adapt to a new limit :)

      good luck again :)

      Thanks for the encouragement.

Anyways had another NL25 session today... was 32$ up but then lost half of it.
So 17$ profit for the day in 3 hours or so, which is alright

I also joined the 40k 3$ rebuy tourney today. It is full of maniacs... yes its a rebuy, yes you get a second shot at it.... but why on earth would you push any Ax or any kind of suited connectors. Maybe they just love throwing away money. Anyway, of course they get lucky and think they are playing well. After this nice hand I decided to leave the tourney and probably not return to it for a while:

Oh and I am pretty close to beeing a gold member... its not really a goal for me since it will happen anyway without me especially trying to get it, but it will be nice having more videos, articles etc. at my disposal.

Last thing is I just checked my rake... apperantly I generated close to 26.55$ already on NL25. I will definatly have to move my roll to FT now since I am missing out on my rakeback.
I just hope that the players on FT will not be better than on stars.

      Time for a small update.

Played while I was intoxicated. Had one weird beat for 10$ and another dumb play for 12$.. so 22$ down. Stopped right away since I knew I was in no stage to play.

Then continued to withdraw my entire roll to transfer to full tilt. Also deposited more money towards my roll (no clue why the hell I did that, so will have to correct this in the near future)

But today comes the shock. I want to deposit my money which is all on moneybookers into full tilt and get a nice little message telling me that online gambling is illegal in the Philippines and my request cannot be completed.... of course I emailed full tilt a long time ago asking them if it is possible to play from the Philippines. They of course forgot to mention this haha.

"You are attempting to make a transaction to a gambling / casino / poker / bingo website from an Internet Protocol (IP) Address which marks your location as being in a country restricted for online gaming."

Will work around this somehow... will use an IP mask or proxy or so I guess to make the deposit.

The most ironic thing is the following: Some Online casinos who have live blackjack tables etc. (the ones with video cameras) have them based in the Philippines

Just also found out that the exchange rate from $ to SG$ is killing me. This transfer is costing me ca. 30$ US. This sucks... never using moneybookers again.

Ok I managed to finally deposit my money on Full tilt so I can play again.

However, I played pretty badly today which resulted firstly in another BI down on NL25.

Need to get my act back together since I did some serious mistakes like calling UTG raise with AJo and betting into the A. (he had AK)

Calling a 4 bet with 99 and betting into a turn with A33A

however afterwards I played better again and managed to be up 9$ for the session from beeing down 30$

Just went on and on and on just like that and some bad play because of tilt..... 50$ down. Not that much when looking at it from a BI point of view.. but still.
Need to stack someone later or tomorrow or so :) (which should have happened in the 22 hand haha)

Ok played another longer session today.

I made around 20$ in 600 hands (my top was around 40$ but the ending of the session didn't go too well) and released part of my bonus which was 12$.

Hence it was a good day overall.

I stacked one person with 77 set vs AK. The rest was just standard play.

Biggest loss was close to 8$ in one hand because I was holding 67s and villain had 68o and the flop came 566. I just called him down till the river and didn't raise since I knew he had to be holding something good to continue betting into the turn out of position with 2/3 pot size bets.

Also I started configuring Elephant since my pokertracker trial ran out. Will be using it in the future

Tried Elephant... doesn't work on Full tilt because the HUD is weird.

Oh and I suck at playing again. Down 40$ in 450 hands.

Also made some other juicy plays like this... oh well.

Nl25 is not going anywhere right now. I am up 66$.... and then I jump up and down 50-70$ constantly. My graph looks like a roller coaster.

Overall I am loosing way quicker then winning.... 7BI in to go till I have to switch down.. lets see how fast I can loose them.

      Update:

Down 60$ now.... 6 BI to go till I goto switch down. Ran my QQ against KK

      Second update:

I am break even again.... this is so sick... going up and down 60-70$ in a day.

So that you guys understand why I am so emotional etc. about this.
I have never had a job or worked. This is the first time I have seen so much money going up and down during a day, hence it affects me. I am still getting used to it.. so please excuse my outbursts on IRC etc. :)

What is it with this stuff.... I don't like donating money. I am still breakeven... after a freaking week plus now.... and I got 22$ in bonus, so I am acctually loosing money.
This is getting seriously on my nerves.

Ok played two more sessions.... one won me some, the other lost again because I was not focused and made a mistake... pretty bad one acctually, so went half a stack down.

Don't feel like playing anymore lately hence my concentration is lacking. Will probably do a break for the day and the day after maybe and just take my rakeback which should be around 1BI I hope hehe.

As for december.... right now I am up 171$. Its bouncing around happily at 200$+- 30$ for the last 4000 hands or so. Partly because of variance.. partly because of my horrible play on some days hehe. Check this hand out for example :)

      MP3 bets $7.55 (All-In), Hero calls $7.55.

Villain was holding KK. I put him on J9 on the turn.. but thought.. oh what the hell, I wanna see what he is holding and hence pulled this through for some strange reason haha. Was thinking of other stuff while playing his hand.

But then again some other hands I play really nice I think:

My mistakes piss me off though.. I really play like a fish sometimes. I stop right after, but still... the loss sucks and I am not progressing. Someone try to tell me what I was thinking by calling down that hand I posted haha

So bouncy... but not really moving anywhere. Am still waiting for that upwards drift :)

In other news I almost bought super system 2 the other day. But flipped though it and decided it won't help me. It seems to be written for beginners, seriously don't need to pay 60$ to learn about position play and bluffs etc. can just read that here for free :)

So... time to wait for my rakeback... and hopefully gold status am like 69 points away and the points haven't updated for 3 days.

And I shall not do mistakes again or play when I am not focused.

Will also start playing with 3 tables again instead of 2... 2 is getting boring.

Last thing is that Elephant does not work... HUD is really messed up.. so I am playing blind so to speak. I try to remember how my opponents play now without stats :(

      Acctually dropped 40$ today....
cause of my nice mistake... and then because someone managed to go all in on his flush draw vs my set :( , thank god he was a short stack.
