I received this mail from Betfred:

The Terms and Conditions for the Jackpot Sit ‘N’ Go tournaments have now changed.
We are sorry to inform you that iPoker will be fading out the jackpot tournaments from the Poker Lobby as each jackpot is won.
      All four Jackpot games:
      Dirty Dozen
      Maui
      Rio
      Fort Knox

…Can only be won one more time!

iPoker/Betfred is no longer adding money to the aforementioned jackpots as of January 1st 2016. (Last addition to the jackpots will be made on Dec 28th)
The jackpot amounts will be paid out in full to the next eligible winner, if won before Dec 31st 2016.
No more consolation prizes can be claimed by players for any games played after Dec 31st 2015
In case one of the aforementioned jackpots will be won, iPoker/Betfred won’t seed a new jackpot and the respective game will be removed from the lobby.
Please find the updated Terms and Conditions for the Jackpot SNG’s going forward via our Jackpot SNG page
The Twister Jackpot games boasting prizepools of up to €10,000 will of course continue.
      The Betfred Poker Team
Is this true only for Betfred or the entire iPoker network? Jackpot SNGs were the only SNG that had any traffic, you had to wait for ages for others to fill up. Will they implement some new format to fill the gap?

Of course it will be true for the entire network, especially because the jackpots are seeded centrally and any changes to them require a network-wide approval.

As a silver lining, it looks like iPoker may replace them by €20 & €50 Twister, yay! :f_drink:

They indeed had the most traffic out of non-Twister SnGs on iPoker, however, they have been in steady decline, especially since Twister appeared.

Hasn't Rio had 5 regs per table whenever the jackpot was €50K and more? I stopped playing it after source-based rake came into effect because the reduced rakeback is now not sufficient for a regfish to beat the games before binking the jackpot.

As of late, the Rio traffic has been so slow that I suspect that the weekly €5K addition to the JP has become unsustainable.

Twister's payout structure is way more balanced, there's no need to wait for a big one, the medium paydays more than suffice. That's why both regs and recs like it more.

But you guys should accept the fact that Rio Jackpot Format is pretty unique format at Ipoker. Some regs, some fish and some regfish dont like to play twister format because its so much faster. There is already one big site whos offering a Twister format and thats Pokerstars with spin and goes. So if Ipoker is deleting normal Jackpot Games now, they probably scare away some players instead of trying to get regs from Pokerstars who are disappointed from Vip System change.

Actually i think its a bad strategy from Ipoker. A good strategy would be keep normal structur Jackpot games and lower the start jackpot amount if they dont profit anymore and besides that introducing 20-50 or 20-100 euro twister. They could also only add 1k instead of 5k. So a other format then twister would be alive.

So they could get some stars regs because they have better rakeback!

Tbh its kinda boring to only play one format at sit n goes. but otherwise you are right tony!

Lolwhat, we don't need extra regs (net withdrawers) from Stars, and neither does iPoker.

I think one of the main reasons why Rio is to be removed is that it was too favourable to regs in the very long run, and fishes were bleeding money too fast and realising quite fast that they had no realistic shot for the jackpot, and flocking to other games (I know one regfish who was mixing PLO and Rio and has now switched to €10 Twister). As said above, there were 5 regs per 6-man table except offpeak hours, which is not a healthy balance.

The Twister paytable is way more balanced and denser - people realise that, even if they don't get a 1000x soon enough, 20x-50x paydays do happen to everyone within a reasonable timeframe.

sure tony, what a site should achieve is to get as less players as possible and only have twister games and casino games in the end.
the only reason you are saying that stuff is because you are afraid stars regs might crush your winrate and the only reason you want normal jackpots to die is because you only play twister. Thats what i think .. might be wrong too.
i know a lot of fish who actually won rio, fort knox jackpots btw... :) and yes i dont want normal jackpots to die because i play them but i can also play twisters sure. Both is fine to me
If u are a pokerplayer you dont want only one format and dons are no format anyway because its most likely that these games can get cheated easily. Ipoker deleted almost every 100-2k euro 6max game and now they delete next format like this. Im not saying i would love to see all the snes at ipoker but imo it should be a good idea for Ipoker.
And i dont get why Ipoker not introduced higher twister earlier. I was asking for that a long time ago!

But i dont wanna argue with you actually. I hope they introduce anything new at least!

In fact, I was a reg of Rios and even won 5 tourneys in a row once (prepared thoroughly for the 6th one but didn't cash).

I got tired of waiting for the jackpot and then discovered that I can also beat Twister with much stabler profit, especially because tourneys take 5 minutes on average as opposed to the 25-minute duration of a Rio (I mean the time to drop out / finish the tourney; the total duration is 8 min for Twister and 35 min for Rio).

You're right that some of the Rio / Fort winners were weak players, but they were not as clueless as a typical recreational hitting a €5 and even €10 Twister pool.
