My name is Kent from Vancouver Canada. I am 29yrs old and have played poker since 2005.

I started playing poker after watching rounders one night in 2005. I really wanted to play poker for a living after learning it could be beat. I started at B&M casinos playing 2/4 limit, I played tight and was breaking even for a year. then I started playing online poker in 2006 and havent been back to the B&M casinos since. played mostly full ring NLHE cash at 10nl and 25nl (couldn’t win past 25nl). and then switched to 6max around 2011 and overall was able to maintain a a win rate over just over 1 million hands (500k hands at 25nl with 3bb/100). In 2015 I started playing hyper turbo husngs which I still do exclusively to this day, and I find them to be a lot of fun as well as easy to learn. Im doing very well at the $3.50 hypers on stars with over 5% roi after over 8k games. I am currently down about 100 buyins at the 7.00s over about 3500 games. I have tried moving up many times without success.

due to laziness and complacency I just never worked very hard in poker over the years, thus even though I was a small winner overall I had done and accomplished nothing with poker. Ive done nothing at 29 and I feel really depressed about this. poker is something I now want to exceed at badly, it is to the point where I rather die than to work a regular job for the rest of my life. it sounds like a really boring future and I want to live an extraordinary life and have an extraordinary job. my biggest motivation is I fear of looking back at 40 years old with regret of wasting my youth away doing nothing. I am turning 30 this year and I want to complete this program and change my life. I want to quit my dead end min wage job and finally accomplish my dream of playing online poker for a living THIS year. I am hopeful this program has what I need and I will put in the work this year to make up for 29yrs of wasted time.

I found out about a poker program in the 2plus2 forums and I watched a few of Gordon’s free videos and thought his ways of thinking was very sound. so I bought the No BS 6 max course in 2014 and studied it. but I still didnt put in big amount of volume and so progress was very slow. in 2015 I decided that I was either gonna become successful in poker or just save money and go to college, I wasnt going to work for min wage till Im 40, but I dont like the idea of college because there isnt anything Im interested in studying. I could just pick something just for the sake of getting a job but that sounds like a life sentence of boredom and sadness. playing online poker and making 100k a year is my dream. I still dont know how to win past 7.00 hypers so I knew I needed coaching. so I heard about it and this coaching program and I felt it was the perfect chance to give poker one last push. I am in the sng grinder program and will complete it when I earn 60k euros and I hope to do this within 12 months. I will give all my efforts towards this and will have no regrets if I still cant make a comfortable living at poker if I had tried all I can. this is the first entry of my blog for the program. and this is my current graph at 3.50s hyper turbo husngs on stars:

      Hi,

Your story looks interesting and I'll definitely start following your blog :) I'm also interested, but it requires a big "safe deposit", right? Also I don't like the fact that I would have to pay 50% of my winnings so it is not for me at the moment. Please let me know what kind of experiences you have about this program :) :gl:

it has been almost a week since I sent my 500 euros deposit and so far this is what have happened:

-completed the step 1-7 sign up process. joined skype groups and started blogs.

-switched to the 6max grinder program instead. long story short, I am now playing 6 max ring games instead of hyper turbo husngs. (which is good because I have previous ring game experience anyway. so probably I would progress faster)

-wanted to quit already :-D lol when I first finished with the sign up process I was given a bunch of preflop range charts to memorize and had to play 10k hands using them. there were like fuggin close to 70 charts altogether with different hand combos on each chart. I felt overwhelmed already and the thought of quitting passed through my mind. but quickly I realized quitting isnt really a long term option, because my long term alternatives are quite depressing (either continue doing nothing in life for another 10yrs and probably kill myself from depression when Im 40, or save money 4 college and get a mundane 9-5 job and feel depressed till Im 65). obviously college > doing nothing, but still I do not think I would be anywhere near happy doing that. that or I have to make it or die trying. so bring on the charts, 70 of them or 7000 of them. I'll sigh and drag myself to do it, but i'll do it.

-currently done about 50% of them charts, probably gonna take me till tuesday to finish memorizing the whole thing. then I'm gonna take the rest of the week to continue practicing it and drilling it into my brain so it becomes automatic when I use it during live play. I also have to get used to playing 6 max ring games again. currently a bit rusty cause I took 2015 off from ring games to play husngs.

By next update I would have...

-memorized 100% the preflop range charts given to me

-played at least 1000 hands of 6max ring. (I will be playing 5nl just because its not about winning or losing right now. its just about practicing the charts, getting used to playing 6 max ring and getting accustomed to my new HUD setup.)

-once I am 100% with the charts and new HUD setup, I will move up to 10nl or 25nl and start there.

well for me because I only made an average of about $100/month for many years before this program, if I start making lets say $5000/month then I would gladly pay 50%. because I know without a doubt it was the program that made it happen, and it would be worth it.

they say the goal is to have the students move up asap, so maybe they have the student pay the 50% once they win a lot?

      Homework from last week:

-memorize 100% the preflop range charts given to me DONE (I remember all the ranges but its not quite drilled in my head just yet. still have to reference the charts if I forget something)

-played at least 1000 hands of 6max ring, getting used to playing 6 max ring and getting accustomed to my new HUD setup.) DONE (done at 2nl zoom 1 tabling. still need practicing with charts, it will get better as I play)

I am going to finish playing the 10k hands for the preflop ranges by next Thursday latest. Going to try 2 tabling zoom next week.

      Homework for next week:

      - have played 10k hands using the pf range charts
      - know the charts enough to not have to look while playing
sign up for the group coaching session (I might or might not be able to make it due to the time its set up)

so I thought about the goals I made in the last post and right now feeling its nowhere near enough if I want to finish the program within 2016. I now make a new goal, I have to play 40hrs playing per week and 10hrs of study. 50hrs of time invested into poker every week. will play zoom at 2nl until I complete the 10k hands for pf range, then off I go to 10nl or maybe even 25nl back at the regular tables.

so here is the new homework for next update (Friday):

-have played at least 40hrs at the tables, volume (#of hands) doesnt matter for now

-have done 10hrs of study time off the tables (flexible on what constitutes “studying” :D )

-finish the 10k hands for pf range charts

-start acclimating to regular tables again and play at least 10hrs at 10nl

this past week I went into my lazy routine and now its FRIDAY
and I have played only 14hrs.years of laziness and habit is hard
to break, but I have come to a point where I have to put my foot
down. no matter WHAT I will play 40hrs this week as Id said I will
do. its about setting a precedent and breaking away from the old
habits. way before, for a LONG time I set goals I never
achieve due to being lazy. its typical for me to set a goal to do
40hrs then end up doing 15hrs. week after week, month after month.
and I dont want this anymore! and then this week its like this
again, 14hrs! its like a mental sickness wtf is wrong with me.

so I know it is friday already and I only played 14hrs. I have to
play 26hrs in like 2 days. I am currently playing right now as
Im typing this. I plan on playing 21hrs straight. Its 3:23am
here, I started playing at 3:00am. I will play till 12am friday
night. then I will play 5hrs after work on saturday night.
40hrs.. this week.. no matter what. setting a precedent. today
is the dividing point between my old past lazy self and the new
in 2016 who gets **** done and walks the walk instead of just
      talk.

next update will be Sunday night and will post the screenshot of
the hours showing 40hrs played this week

Ok so its Sunday night here and time for update.

      (fail) 40hrs played.

no excuses just that I am lazy as **** and its very hard to change that, but I am trying very hard to change it. 29 hrs is probably the most hours I've EVER played in a week, so I do feel something is shifting inside me. so this week now I am aiming higher...70hrs. Gordon said 60 hours is lazy and its probably true, but his standards are pretty high and pretty motivating.

so anyway I finished the 10k hands for pf ranges and now onto simple preflop exploits. the last 1k hands or so I moved up to 10nl zoom and played mostly 1-2 tables. I wanna continue playing zoom cause its just so much easier to put in volume, if I cant beat 10nl then I'll move down until I find a way to beat it.

Things I said I would do last time:

(fail)-have played at least 40hrs at the tables, volume (#of hands) doesnt matter for now

(fail)-have done 10hrs of study time off the tables (flexible on what constitutes “studying” :D )

(done)-finish the 10k hands for pf range charts

(fail)-start acclimating to regular tables again and play at least 10hrs at 10nl

Things to do before next update in 1 week:

      play 70hrs
      play at least 25k hands
finish module 1 and move on to post flop

cant help but to update this now to motivate myself..

Tuesday night and already falling back to old patterns, only 3hrs played. enough. I have the same motivation right now as I did a few days ago when I suddenly spiked a 10hr session, and I know I can still bring the volume to 20hrs before Wed is over. then from there I will motivate myself again to bring it as close to the goal as I can.

      lazy..

will post update Wed night after I finish a marathon session... I will not sleep until this is completed. I will sit on my chair with my eyes half opened and yawning every 20secs but I will get it ****ing done. I will allow myself 20min breaks every 4hrs of play.

also another thing I havent done last time is post and update the blog as Im doing it. this should keep me feeling a bit more accountable. so I will update this blog every 4hrs of play. they will be short cause I dont want it to cut into my resting time.

      Homework for Wed night:

see at least 20 under "hours"

here we go it is 8:31pm here, I will start now
