      Goals

I like how Leatherass puts it in his book, treat your poker like a business:
"If you're not setting goals, then success is just a happy accident. Your goals are the bulls-eye that your company is heading toward. Without goals, you're aiming with your eyes closed."

      LONG TERM GOALS
      • 10.000 hours of play.
      • $1.000.000 profit.

      • Be able to play 12 tables constantly, as effectively as possible.

      March Week 1

Had a pretty bumpy start, but i guess it was to be expected. Fortunately saved the week pretty nicely on the very last session :D
Shaking off the rust after 2 months of barely playing, there was some autopilot going on, a couple leaks that i was able to fix quickly and some slight tilt on the end of 2 of the sessions, but nothing major.

I'm somewhere in South America, you can guess where :D
I started playing around mid 2009. Started with a $70 deposit, short stacking. Beat up to nl10, then broke even on nl25, binked 3rd in a 3$ mtt for about 600 and started playing with 100bb on stars nl10 fullring. 20 tabled and crushed for a small sample with some nitty strategy. Moved to nl25 on FTP to clear the $600 first deposit bonus, did well, then started joining the public coachings down in the spanish community. Learned a lot, started thinking about ranges, and poker became a lot more fun :D Moved up to nl50 (still fullring), went from 12/9/3 to 24/20/7. Moved up to nl100, at this point i had fell in love with deep ante games. Beat it for 8bb/100, took a nl200 shot and ran terribly for 15k hands, but was pretty confident with my game. Still, I've been eyeing the 6max games for a while and decided to start playing nl50 short handed. It was a bit hard to adapt but beat it for about 3.50bb/100 over 50k hands or something. Moved up and beat nl100 for about 8bb/100 despite a 30k hand utterly tilted period where i lost 3k lol. Then i played MTTs for 3 months (terrible lifestyle imo) shipped some small stuff, the big 100 on stars for 10k was the biggest along with 5th or something in the first ever partypoker pokerfest tourneys (like party's WCOOP) for the same amount (was a $215). Then shipped a satty for LAPT Punta del Este, never played live before but gave it a good go cashing the main event 25th/422 for 5k. Immediatly went to play the 1k second chance and busted within an orbit in a very avoidable 200bb """cooler""" KK vs AA.
Back home, went back to cashgames. Won another live sat though, LAPT Lima this time. Played 5 events and ran bad. Pretty sure i had Gripsed on my first main event table, although i didn't know him at the time.
Then kept playing cash, nl100 rush and then 200, shortly after it was released. Quickly moved to 400 with 40 buy ins or something, nl400 rush, then on party. Had a 7k week frustrated by a 90/70 drunken maniac (open pre for 50bb utg with T4s kind of guy) taking like 3.5k from me. Some 2-5 outers then the biggest pot of my life where we are both $1600 deep, he opens for 400, i flat KJcc and flop QcTc4h, ship it vs his cbet and he shows up with AQ and fades :(
      And then black friday happens...

      To be continued...

So black friday hit and my roll was at it's highest point, about 30k... but a bit over 20k were now stuck in FTP.
I played nl200 on party, ran bad and tilted like never before. Moved down, then barely played (>10k hands/month) for a year and a half. Kept watching videos and reading forums pretty much daily the whole time though.
When FTP came back i was 24 years old, still at my parents' home and sick of it :P . Decided to rent an aprtament on the capital (5hs bus from my town) and start grinding nl100 for a living, mostly deep ante games on stars and hu. Had plenty of 1k days and even a 1.2k day 9 tabling nl50 deep ante for 16hs straight.
Then life got in the way and i couldn't keep the balance. Lots of partying, got a friend from my town to come live as my roomate and we're both disc jockeys as a serious hobby... well, guess you get the picture.
For the following year and a half I played just to get by and enjoy the lifestyle. Very little volume, very little saving or even bankroll increasement after cashouts. Inevitable big downswing hits and i'm forced to move down to nl50 (100bi though, brm I did right).
After the apartament's contract was up i decided to go back to my parent's, actually grinded for a couple months and rushed back to the big city :P . Things haven't exactly been getting cheaper in my country lately, and rentals are definitely not te exception. Rushed to a tiny 1 room appartment just to get out of my town. Got sick of it after 4 months. Back at my parent's...

And that's the end of part 2. This blog is part 3 in the making =) Now doing it right and commited to succeed. Lets go!

      March Week 2

Week 2 graph is a little heart breaking :( Poker wise, the infamous red line tells the whole story. Started really well, focus was 100% and my game was moving forward. Then I got a little lazy, even skipped 2 sessions and cut a few others short. This is not acceptable and in the end I got punished for it. My focus drifted apart at the same time lady variance decided I didn't deserve a smooth weekend. As a result, what could have been a very good week went down in flames.
At least I caught a glimpse of how I should be playing. The goal now is to WORK HARD in order to play like that all the time.

      Messi sounds about right :D

      Thanks for the nice wish.

Music can work both for and against focus in my experience. Playing just 6 tables, it can keep me engaged during an uneventful session. But it can also make me more likely to go into autopilot if i'm not in the right frame of mind.
Both sides of the coin have shown up this week.
Next week i'm forcing myself to be as conscious as possible of every factor in every decision, to be as far from autopilot as possible. Anything that can become a distraction is going to have to be out of the equation.

No reason not to blast away between sessions though :D

      Monthly Results (MARCH 2016)

I guess it seemed like yet another blog I was giving up :O but it's not the case. Why no updates? To make a long story short I simply did not play almost at all since Week 2. Why not? Big problems with my GF (2.5 year old relationship) got me a little depressed and angry. Don't want to get much into it tbh. BUT I will say this: I SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO MY SCHEDULE ANYWAYS. Maybe implement a stop loss for the first time in my life. Play 30 minute sessions if that's what it takes. But KEEP MOVING FORWARD. I need to get used to pushing through the tough times, and those come in many forms, not just downswings. With rakeback I probably could have squeezed some profit even with tilt lurking around.
So I guess i'm not quite a professional yet. Well, I knew that already :D It's the ultimate goal of this project to improve as much as possible in this kind of things.
The good news is I did quite a bit of studying this last couple of weeks and I'm now very motivated, kind of refreshed.

      Moving on...

      Hours Played: 66hs

Profit+rakeback+affiliate extras: $2257 (Technically it's around $500 more as I cleared half a 1k euro bonus, but it's paid in one chunk, so I'm not adding it until it's done)
