Heyo, swedish exchange student in Japan signing in!

As you can see i've been a member for a while, and have had a few swings at this poker thing in the past: going from 50->500 dollars once, and 50->330 dollars the second time. After each time though i start to lose my motivation at around the time i hit NL10, which is a shame really, because that's when the potential for making money gets real.

So i'm making this blog in the attempts of holding myself accountable to play more and study harder!

I started brushing up on my poker knowledge and deposited 32 dollars at pokerstars a week ago. Here's how i've been doing so far at NL2z:

The first day of playing i lost several buyins (running way below EV) and i thought i would go bust for sure. Then the next session it was like a switch was hit and i just couldn't stop winning :f_thumbsup:

I think at this point i am defininately able to beat NL2z, and i'll keep playing there until i hit at least 100$ before taking shots at NL5z, which should happen this weekend at the rate i'm currently winning :f_tongue:

I'll try to post after each session giving a small update and posting some graphs and hands and whatnot. Feel free to complain if i'm slacking, gotta keep me accountable :f_drink:

Todays session. Quite a boring session, with very few good showdowns. My redline looks good though.
I sucked out on AA with QQ BvB, which is why im above EV.

I was convinced i had him beat on the turn, so the river shove made no sense to me. I thought he might be spazzing out with AK or something. It should be an easy fold though..

I pretty much never do these kind of bluffs (for good reason), but i thought i could force him off an AQ or AT type hand on the river. These hands are probably not valuebetting the river though. :f_ugly:

This was a TOUGH spot. I tanked long and hard on the turn when i got raised. Would appreciate an analysis from a good cash player here.

On NL5 and NL10 the turn is for me an easy fold. Even back in the day, the great BalugaWhale invented the "baluga theorem" which says that facing a turn raise (and imo, especially in a 3way pot where people play more honestly), muck all 1 pair type of hands... At NL2 though, I think the call might be okay, because people are a bit more spazzy and random. Folding is never going to be a bad option here though. :f_thumbsup:

PS; If you want to get called by a worse flush OTR you should probably bet smaller! I think this large bet will isolate yourself to get called by mainly better flushes!

Put in another session tonight that went much better, although i made two bad calls at the end that made me a bit mad, so i cut the session short to prevent tilting.

      Total for the day: +4.36$
      Total hands: 1310
      Current BR: 88.88$

Closing in on that 100$ mark!

Thanks for the feedback vonki :f_biggrin: I agree with your statements mostly, I have a bit of a leak when it comes to folding decent hands though :f_ugly: Def something to improve on

      Week 1 summary

This week is more like 9 days, but I feel it's easiest to include everything and do updates every week now :f_thumbsup:

      Starting BR: $32
      Current BR: $72.18
      This weeks results: +$40.18

There is some discrepancy in the graph from this. I think it's a bit bugged with the hand reporting. I recently got the trial for HM2 and I intend to start tracking hands through that software for the coming month as it allows better analysis. I cant import the old handhistories though as they seem to have vanished :f_ugly: I'll probably end up starting a new DB in HM2 and starting fresh from that. Considering that the last two sessions were horrible it might feel nice with a fresh start.

Goal for this week: Play 10,000 hands 2tabling nl2z while playing my A-game

      Over 100$!
The results of 9 hours of grinding. The first few hours were similar to yesterday, just not winning any showdowns and getting sucked out on (i was slightly above all in EV, but the amount of times they hit on the river and got payed off... ) . Then around hand 5000 the win-switch was flipped and i started hitting sets and preflop allins with AA. Upswings are fun :f_tongue:

I notice that i am not completely comfortable defending againt 3bets with marginal broadways like AQo or KQs. It's just hard to know where you stand. Same goes for hands like TT/JJ on a low board in a 3bet pot. Do i raise his halfpot cbet? Call? And if the turn blanks and he fires again? :f_mad: I also need to read up more on coldcalling hands like AJo/KQs against a raiser. I don't think it's profitable to call just to hit your cards, but which flops to you make a move on?

Overall i'm happy with today. A few mistakes, but 4tabling helps with the tilt-prevention as i don't have time to think about the hands i lose.

The sessions this week so far. (the bottom one was covered by my last post)
      Current BR: $114.17

I've been trying some 2tabling zoom and 2tabling normal tables lately. It's slow, but I can really focus on making good decisions about my opponents, and taking a bunch of notes on them. The winrate seems really high, but the volume is a bit low. I think rotating between the two is going to be good for my game.

There are some huge fish at normal tables :f_tongue:

      Week 2 summary

      Good week for me :f_drink:

      Current BR: $119.73
      Last week BR: $72.18
      This weeks profit: +$47.55
      Hands played: 21726

I didn't adhere to the 2tabling part of my goal, as I am getting more comfortable 4tabling. I did play pretty well overall though, but there are still spots i can work on (i'm a calling station :f_mad: ). Happy with the volume i put in, should be sustainable, although slightly less as school is starting this week.

This week I want to focus on 5NL. If i go below $100 i'll go down to 2NL again and grind it up to $115 before taking another shot. It's conservative, but it feels safer that way :f_grin:

He Smashie, how is it going this week? You showed such a nice profit in the previous week - it is even more this week and you are too afraid to report the profit for our Get Rich or Die Tryin' - The Bankroll Challenge - Reporting thread ?
... just kidding, let us know some nice hands that you played, too - and GL at the tables,
