      Hi everyone,

I am starting to write my diploma work to gain the Master degree in Probability theory and mathematical statistics at my university and my subject is random number generators and statistical testing of them. As I would like to connect the study with my interest in poker, I would like to ask you if you have any information about the RNGs used by online poker rooms or where could I find such information.

Thanks very much for any ideas :-)

      Update :
Today it came to my mind that it also would be interesting to research what type of control (and who makes the controls) is there for the (P)RNGs used by online poker sites (and casinos) and if there are some specific test batteries like DieHard of TestU01 that they have to pass and also if the conditions for passing vary for each country .. Again I am very thankful for any ideas

Here is the quote from Full Tilt software installed on my PC :

"This product includes software developed by the Open SSL
Project for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit(http://openssl.org/).

This product includes cryptographic software written by Eric Young (eay@cryptsoft.com).

This product includes software written by Tim Hudson (tjh@cryptsoft.com).

This software is based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group."

Maybe contacting one of those people would help.

I dont think any of those people can help you.

OpenSSL secure socket layer software, its for security of communications nothing related to random number generators.

all other crypto is same stuff basicly... and jpeg group is for JPG image library, so basicly here nothing mentioned who can help you.

You should already know all this, but just in case.

As far as I know, there are no true RNGs on pokersites.

pokerstar's rng is commented on their site somewhere.

i've read about Everleaf sites' rng. they said they have a device that tracks photons (or some particles of light), which are never the same. so it's a way not to create randomness, but to track it from the surrounding.

      Thank you for claryfing :-)

      to darkonebg :
I do not really know if they used RNGs or PRNGs .. I will probably start some kind of research in this field by e-mailing the sites questions about what type of generators they use (whether pseudo-random or "true"-random) and hope they will answer me and then try to find out some details and maybe post them here just in case someone is interested

      to suvalgysiu :
Thanks very much for the info, I will try to contact them and reveal something more.
