Good Luck to Bad Luck in a week?

      Hi Guys,

I started playing with my $50 last Saturday, my BR rose to $105 by Monday night. Since then I have been hitting nothing. I'm down to $54s.

I haven't changed my game, i'm raising on big hands and folding if I don't hit anything on the flop.

Pockets Aces are getting beat by Trip 5's etc. (I know theres no way to stop this but it's just really annoying!)

      Any advice appreciated

      Just one:
Play according to our bankroll management!

I hardly believe that you were able to double your BR within 1 day by playing according to the BRM.

      Yep, I second Chiller's post.

BRM is the key to successful poker (& not losing your $50 stake).

Check the limits you are playing and read & re-read the BRM strategy guide. If playing the recommended level you should only be risking a small proportion of your BR at any given time.

Building your BR is a slow (sometimes very painful) process & should be a long term goal. Never look to "Double up" or gain quickly.

I would recommend you drop down a level or two and concentrate on the strategy guides until your game is water tight.

You (just like us all) would also benefit from attending one of the free live coaching sessions to watch how an established player operates. Cannot recommend them high enough for plugging small leaks in games, did mine a power of good.

Wishing you every success with your learning/game.

It's possible, first thing i ever played was a $1 rebuy at Titan. Spent $2.10, fluked out and won and my BR was $115 4 hours after I got my capital :D

3 days ;) ... and alot of SNG's. I was playing at $3.40 tables then read BRM and went to $1.20 tables. I feel my game is tighter at $3.40 but I guess I need to play the same game at $1.20 and go slowly up the ranks.

ATM i'm at $74's but thats because I went back to $3.40's and won a couple.

I really want to stick to BRM but I find the $1.20 too difficult to get payouts.

      Hey Screwloose,

I can highly recommend 4 things:

#1) Head over to the video section and watch some videos: http://www.pokerstrategy.com/video/sng/

There are quite a few low level SNG videos by Unam, Chenny and Helemaalnicks for bronze members which will help show you if you are doing things right or not.

#2) Download the ICM Trainer Light and the normal ICM Trainer: http://www.pokerstrategy.com/software/

Practice your ICM - its important for understanding key principles of playing late phase SNGs ;)

#3) Get involved in the SNG hand evaluation forum: http://www.pokerstrategy.com/forum/board.php?boardid=1429

This a place where you will fix your leaks and start to think about critical situations.

#4) Check out our coaching schedule: http://www.pokerstrategy.com/coaching/

We have several live SNG coachings a week where you can watch the pros play and ask questions. A very good method for improving :)

If you do these things you will be back on the 3,4s in no time and will be able to move up even further :)

      Best regards

I have downloaded PT3 but can't get this to work... it may be because I have elephant installed in which case I guess I need to uninstall elephant so that I can see my SnG hands?
