      Hi.

I started with 5 $ free bankroll from this site in 2006 playing fix limit went up to 0,5/1 $ and 1/2 $ then switched to NL10.
Got there to up to NL25/NL50 and was beating the game there for 4-5 years.
Then went up to NL100-NL400 was doing good for 1 year.
After that I dropped to NL10 straight was first a winner there with 14bb/100 playing 24 tables autopilot.
Then I even started losing there went down to NL5 started the same after a while I started to lose there too.
It was alway first I was crushing there went up then was getting destroyed got back down.
Now I am down to NL2.

Dont know whats wrong its like impossible to win even vs the worst players.
I just swing up and down, variance is crazy.

My major issue is I dont get phase where I have only hands that have no showdown value or any really value.
Then I lose 1-3 Stacks just by folding.

Is it just me or is anyone experiencing the same ?

The games are not dead, not to be a douche. But I would say it's a bigger chance that your game is outdated then that poker is unbeatble.

The issue is it takes really long to accumulate money.
Its not really enough to cover my NonShowdown losts and the coolers/badbeats.

Its like if I have a good session I gain like 1 stack if i get a bad one I lose over 2 stacks.
The problem is to create a buffer to cover the situations where i cant do anything.

And on the low stakes much didnt change i watch regulary coaching vids.
Its quiet the same as before.
Its playing vs extreme bad undisciplined opponents, and still almost nothing.

I dont know its really weird.
I get several winning sessions and make 2-3 stacks.
Then I get a bad session or bad phase, where I either hit anything or get several badbeat/coolers in a row,
      and I am breakeven again.
Its nonstop like this since last 2 Years its just goes up and down.
And I am just creating rake.

You can't say that you're beating nothing until you play a thousand Spin & Go or Knockout games. They don't require much preparation yet, knowing the basics will be enough. That's where most fish is now (plus of course MTTs are always abundant in it). Cash games are overly theorised nowadays (especially NLH; PLO - not so much yet) and you indeed need to study every week in order to continue beating them. I mean, even bad cash players have become better on average, partly because Pokerstrategy has been providing tons of training materials for so cheap.

I'm just starting out with NL, but I think:
      1. You are losing way to much from the BB and possibly SB. - not defending, not playing well OOP.
      2. Other players are not losing enough from BB and SB TO YOU - you are not stealing them enough.

So fix the easy ones (stealing BU, SB) and work on the hard ones. Or get coaching, I'm a student in a coaching for profits deal and it's way faster then figuring out my leaks by myself.

Is it normal to be carddead for 1000-3000 Hands regualry ?

I played 8000 Hands this month and I am basicly breakeven again.
Sure I am right now 4 stacks under eV.
Its really swingy I went 5 times 3-4 stack up and down, there is no consistency.
Run good up run bad down.

If you say you are card dead for 3k hands, that means you are playing too tight.

Yeah its weird somehow, Its like hitting a wall.
Its not majorly that I am just getting no starting hands, my postflop hand strength just drops significantly.
And it goes on like that for 1000 hands or so.
If I play aggressive I lose over 4 stacks if i play passive its 2-3 stacks.
I get like a total switch every 3 session or so.
Its really problematic if I play passive my winnings drop hard but my losings drop too.
Other way around my winnings increase but my losings increase in value too.
There is just no straight line in my results it just switches continuously.
I start to feel like I am flipping coins. :transpire:

Did anybody else experienced something like that ?
      Or overcame it somehow ?

By playing better poker. Simple. This is not rocket science, if you cannot win then it means you are just a terrible player.

      Hi Mar0,

why dont you post your stats and graph?, maybe then we can find some leaks in your game.

I have been playing online for 15 years now and still doing ok, but had to work hard with my game last few years and did some big adjustments and also thinking more about game selection, which was not so important before, was allways some fishes around :f_biggrin:

Yeah just thought the same, should post some stats.

      10 k Hands
      Vpip 20 / PFR 18 / 3Bet 10 / WTSD% 29 / WSD 52 / WWSF 43 / AF 3.38 / EV 1 / $Won -13 / Rake 12,50

Been a bad month too, little bit unlucky.
11k hands and 3,8 k downswing approx 10 stacks below Ev.
Last year I was beating it with 12 BB/ 100 constantly.
      But this year nothing.

I feel like its still fishy, I just dont get the hands to bet.
Just now I played 500 Hands and won like 3 after the flop.
With one set and two pairs.
Its just sitting there and waiting to lose.
Its not that I feel like I am losing to much, I just feel like I barley get profitable spots and if I do I get awful board development.

Dont know should I be more patient or should I bluff more.
But on that stake if I go and play aggro I lose several stacks in few seconds.
People just dont like to be bluffed there.
And I my mind its just bad play to bet midpairs, gutshots or so till the river.
Or river bluff busted draws multiple times in a row.

Its been like that for over 3 years it started at the higher limits and now its on every limit like that.
I would think its because I am to inpatient/greedy and play to many big pots.
In combination with also running bad.
I often drop like 10-15 stacks below EV.
It evens out after 100-150 k Hands normally but I spend so much on rake and time during it.
Its not like I put any money into the player pool I am just producing rake.
That is also kind of frustrating, because its not like you lose to other players but you lose to the provider.

      Hi Mar0,

I took a quick look at your stats and your hands.
Your stats seem to be ok. Compared to me you play a lot tighter and you seem to 3bet a lot. That strategy can work but of course you have to know what hands to open and from which positions.

Those 5 biggest wins and 5 biggest loses don't tell the whole story. On the long run the small leaks will have a great impact.

      Winning hands

This hand looks ok but I would just call on the river. Villains line is strange and it could mean he is strong and he might be trapping you. You have a chance to close the action and you should do it. What if villain re-raises you?

      #2
Squeezes are normally wider than standard 3bets vs open raise. I think it might be ok to 4bet pre flop.
      Postflop looks ok.

      #3
I might bet small, something around 10bb OTT. That has huge fold equity. When you play a hand like this you might have to call some river bets, just like in here. Because of your line villain can be bluffing you often so catching with your hand is fine but I would avoid these spots in the first place.

      #4
No need to cbet this OTF. Flop hits villain better than us, we don't rep much and we probably won't get too many folds.

      #5
Maybe it is safe to make a thin valuebet OTR and fold to a raise. Villain can have many weaker 2pair hands.

      Losing hands

This would be a flat call pre for me. Postflop is ok, this was just a cooler.

      #2
I would fold this hand pre. Postflop seems ok. Calling turn is maybe ok. Board is paired but we might still get the odds to call.

      #3
How often will this villain raise OTF with just TPTK? If we call flop, should we call this turn too? Or should we just fold already OTF?

      #4
Too loose open from UTG imo. On this board A high might be the best hand. Our range is stronger than villains. Maybe bet turn again to maximize fold equity? Calling river is not good.

      #5
Villains raise OTF worries me a bit. It can be a bluff so calling is not bad. I still wouldn't lead OTT. If your plan was to bluff, you should bet a lot bigger.
I would just check call turn here and probably check fold OTR but since we started bluffing we have to go all the way and barrel river too. Donking small OTT and then checking river looks weak and villain could exploit that.

      Here a graph

Its 9k hands break even 5k hands downswing and now break even again.
Its either break even or UP/Down-Swing.

      Its like pure gambleing :|
      Upswing = Win
      Downswing = Lose
      Rest = break even.

You win few pots and then just get crap till everything is gone.
Its just stupid, like it just depends on how many good spots you get not how you play them.
You know I play NL2 right now and the people play like shit, make horrible calls or check/call down really strong hands etc.

You have to remember that downswings are normal. I suggest that you play another 20k hands and then let's see what your graph looks like =) I have huge downswings too in my graph.

This month has been really crazy.
One day I win next day I lose, then again next day I win the day after that I lose.
Also I should try to avoid lose chasing I think.
If I have a bad day and run bad its quiet consistent.
I know this is irrational and superstitious but somehow it fits.
And I am not talking about bad play or so.
Its not just a feeling I see it in my stats and ev.

Well this doesn't look that bad. You have managed to play about break even the last 20k hands. In my graph I see several spots where I have won or lost around 2000 big blinds during 20k hand period. This might still be just standard variance.

How's your red and blue line looking?

Thanks for the remind didn't checked it for a while.

It think its my red line, its now about - 95 $ and my blue is 80 $ over 41000 Hands.

I guessed it before too so I switched my bet sizing , which improved my results a little bit too.
Before I had 90 % pot and 2/3 pot now i do 2/3 and 1/2, which allows me to bet more frequently and keep better pot control.

I think I might should play less draws and play more selective.
Hard to explain for me but I try somehow.
With selective I mean play less marginal hands make faster decisions either to stick with it or not.
Avoiding medium pots and either play big or small, to avoid getting committed.
And also play higher quality if playing big, play less big pots but play higher quality.
In general be more patient with big pots.
Sure you catch really weak hands or insane bluffs but if I build up a to big pot I get to soon pot committed and baited,
then I have really tough decisions to make a big fold because I face a big pot on the river.
I thought before to go for protection but most of the time you just cant they dont care about odds and outs, then you sit there and a bad card hits and the pot is at 100 big blinds or so.
Before it worked really well but if you dont hit and always get really bad board development it just sucks.
Then you sit there and have to play the guessing game because the pot is to big to just check/fold but your hand is to bad to play that pot size.

Okay so it seems like you could improve your red line and it should make you a bit more profitable.
Remember to steal enough from button and SB. I usually open 2 or 2.5bb from those positions, that allows me to steal wider. People will often fold too much vs steals pre flop. Also remember to 3bet enough, not only value hands. Then you can decrease your cbet sizing to 1/2-2/3 so you could cbet more frequently.

You could watch KTU's video series about how to play hands correctly. Those start with the video "How to play AK".
Those videos will give you some kind of idea what kind of hands you should play and how should you play them.
Then there is w34z3l's red line rampage series but it is for gold members.
