      I bet/fold on the flop for protection and value. Well, that sucks that he had a flush but there is no way you can fold on the river.

      It is likely that he wanted c/r on the flop. This might get me out of the pot and I would not loose so much :)

      he's calling anyway flop with ANY club, so i didnt want that to happen

      Therefore (if he is just calling), you have to bet to protect giving him bad odds to call. Just bet on the flop and bet on the turn to get a value. And if he checks the river (with no 4th club), I would bet the river and if he bets, I would just call.

      well, then bet flop, bet turn and check behind river = standard line. I don't liek your very passive line.
