      Hello,

I'm starting this poker blog to track my re-start of my poker bankroll. I've played poker for the last 2 years at FL, NL and SNG. Now i've cashed out my roll and left $100 on stars to rebuild a new bankroll. The reason why i'm doing this is because i think i have to improve my game a lot to beat limits higher then NL50 and so i've decided to re-start with no-limit shorthanded cashgame only on pokerstars at NL5 so that i can improve my game step per step while moving up the limits.

I've set myself some regulations while moving through the limits. I'm only allowed to move up in the limit if i have played the limit * 1k hands. Which means i'm only allowed to move from nl5 to nl10 after at least 5k hands on nl5. From nl10 to nl25 i need at least 10k hands and so on.

I will use this blog to track my way through the limits and hopefully find some buddy's for hand discussions or maybe even skype/teamviewer sessions.

After the first few days i've played nl5 sh at stars i can definetly say that this limit is so crushable ... there are so many donks at the tables. Unbelievable.

In the last 4 days i've played 2068 hands at 16.14BB/100 which makes a total profit of $33.38 or 6,67 stacks. So i'm hoping that i can move up to nl10 after i've played the requested 5k hands with about ~17-20 stacks.

Nice to see you have made a blog Soucy. Sony i am also doing the same thing (well sorta) but im startin at NL2. (Started with $44 but up to $52 after 265 hands)

So good luck to all of us and lets hope we beat the donk that will call your raises with 74o!!

Edit: Oh and how many tables are you playing Soucy and also what does your VPIP and PFR look like? Im playing quite nitty atm 15/14. I would like to get an idea of how to adapt for when/if i get to NL5 at stars!

      Thanks

At the moment i'm playing 6 tables at the same time. And my stats are super nitty :) 14/10 atm. You will get payout anyway at NL5 because nearly nobody is paying attention to your vpip/pfr so there is really no need to play a looser style. Maybe i give a way a little bit of value but it reduces the variance a lot.

Just played another session and made $5.39 in about 45 min for a total of nearly 8 stacks up since i've started the br rebuilding.

Can't stop laughing about this hand :) I love it when the donks slowroll their monsters and start flaming the chat after they lost with it.

Well ... i've played a little session this afternoon. And I got quite lucky in 3 key hands but i think i havn't played one of them wrong.

After 381 hands i've finished my session with a plus of $37.25. According to HM i've had a $EV of $24.57.

      Here are the 3 hands:

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy hand converter:

      Known players:
      MP3:
      $18.40
      CO:
      $10.30
      BU:
      $10.00
      SB:
      $7.65
      BB:
      $6.00
      MP2:
      $10.90

      $0.05/$0.1 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BU with 7, 7.
2 folds, CO raises to $0.4, Hero raises to $1.2, SB folds, BB calls $1.10, CO folds.

      Flop: ($2.85) J, 6, K (2 players)
      BB checks, Hero checks.

      Turn: ($2.85) T (2 players)
      BB checks, Hero checks.

      River: ($2.85) 7 (2 players)
BB bets $1.50, Hero raises to $6, BB calls $3.30.

      Final Pot: $13.65.

      Results follow:

Hero shows three of a kind, sevens (7 7)
BB shows a pair of aces (A A)
Hero wins with three of a kind, sevens (7 7).

CO raised a lot but folded nearly everything to 3bets so i decided to 3bet my pockets. After the tight BB cold called my 3bet i wanted to play c/f all streets because i don't think that i'm still ahead on such a board.

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy hand converter:

      Known players:
      BB:
      $10.50
      MP2:
      $9.70
      MP3:
      $4.50
      CO:
      $11.00
      BU:
      $10.00
      SB:
      $10.50

      $0.05/$0.1 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

Preflop: Hero is CO with K, K.
      MP2 folds, MP3 raises to $0.2, Hero raises to $0.7, 3 folds, MP3 calls $0.50.

      Flop: ($1.55) 3, 9, 4 (2 players)
      MP3 checks, Hero bets $1.00, MP3 raises to $2, Hero calls $1.00.

      Turn: ($5.55) J (2 players)
      MP3 checks, Hero bets $2.00, MP3 calls $1.80.

      River: ($9.35) K (2 players)

      Final Pot: $9.35.

      Results follow:

Hero shows three of a kind, kings (K K)
      MP3 shows three of a kind, nines (9 9)
Hero wins with three of a kind, kings (K K).

Against a midstack i can't fold KK anyway so i decided just to call his flop minraise to let him bet his last 2$ at the turn. After he checks i bet with my overpair.

      $0.05/$0.1 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

      Preflop: Hero is MP2 with T, T.
Hero raises to $0.4, 4 folds, BB calls $0.30.

      Flop: ($0.85) 9, T, 8 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.60, BB calls $0.60.

      Turn: ($2.05) J (2 players)
      BB checks, Hero checks.

      River: ($2.05) T (2 players)
BB bets $3.00, Hero raises to $11, BB calls $6.00(All-In).

      Final Pot: $22.05.

      Results follow:

Hero shows four of a kind, tens (T T)
BB shows a flush, king high (J K)
Hero wins with four of a kind, tens (T T).

Scary Turn so i decided to play check behind because i won't fold to a check/raise and evaluate the hand again at the river.

      Total profit today: $54.45

Let's hope that my winning streak continues.

Here is one funny hand i've played in the last session. We had two small pots a few hands ago where he was floating me twice so i decided to check / raise the turn because i was sure he will bet if i check the turn. Still can't imagine what he was thinking to call.

Well i don't think that i can hold the winrat that high :) But around 5 to 10 ptbb/100 should be possible at NL10 SH on stars. There are so many bad players out there.

Played another session after i woke up this morning.

Session included 405 hands with a profit of $9.50
      Stats: VPIP: 19 / PFR: 15.1 / 3Bet: 5.6 / AF: 7.17 / WTSD: 21 / W$SD: 53.8

This time there wasn't an interessting hand at the showdown. Just some small pots and cbet which brought me the profit.

I'm glad that till now my non-showdown winnings are at least break even. I remember at the beginning of playing poker my non-showdown winnings went down linear in an angle of 45 degree :)

I played another short session and still running hot.

Played 242 with a total profit of $14.40

Didn't had so many good hands so my vpip/pfr was very low with 15/10. But 242 isn't that much of a sample size as we all know.

And i'm very proud that finally my non-sd winnings are positive :)

Here is the NL10 SH graph overall since i've moved up. The first 500 hands are definetly a sick upswing. But after that it's very constant. Let's see what my winning rate in the future will be.

Nice to see youre doing well! Just wondering, do you use a monetary BRM aswell as the "play xk hands on NLx" or do you only move up by that rule?

Seems like we're playing two different styles but crushing the same limit at the moment. I'm also on stars but playing about 22/19 :]

I'm playing with a 20 stacks min. brm till NL25 and from there on i'll add some stacks for each limit. e.g. nl50 with 23 stacks, nl100 with 26 stacks and so on.

The "play xk hands on NLx" is just to make sure i'm not running through a limit because of an upswing only.

So i have to play for example 10k hands on NL10sh before i will move up no matter if i have 20 stacks for nl25 after 7k hands.

Just finished a really sick session. Can't suggest anybody to do this. Don't think that i'll do this again :)

Started playing at 10.27 pm and finished right now after 5 hours and 11 min.

      Total profit: $1.35 :D :D :D :D :D :D

The session started terrible ... after a few hands i had 2 cooler which was KK as an overpair vs a slowplayed AA and set over set with my mid-set. After a few cbet's which where raised i was down around 2 1/2 to 3 stacks after ~650 hands.

And then i thought "no way i'm not finishing this session with a loss" ... so i continued to play with the goal to reach at least break even before i'll stop playing.

This is the graph of the ultra session :) Had to play 1965 hands or 5 hours 11 min till i was at least break even the first time. Then i decided to stop this session :) (played 4 tables at the same time)

First of all i'm tired now. But i'm also a bit proud of myself that i continued playing my A game after the 2 cooler and many cbets which where raised.

I havn't made profit this night but i def. have improved my skills in not tilting and just continuing the A game after beats and cooler.

      Solong,

Sick weekend won't end ... again i was down about 2 1/2 stacks after 400 hands ... but i was able to fight back and get a positive profit after 751 hands.

So while i was watching the EPT Dortmund on PokerStars TV i was able to make a profit of $6.65 in 751 hands.

At the end of the session there was a very funny hand ... i decided to overlimp an off-suited connector because the 2 guys in front of me where so loose with a vpip greater and had a big wtsd combined with a low w$sd so i decided to limp my 98o. The result of the hand is just quite funny :)

wow seems like you are destroying them! What limits were you playing when you decided to cash out and what made you do this?
