      Hey and was geht ab?!

I thought long about it but then I decided to start a new poker blog. A lot of stuff changed, I've been through a lot, I've read a lot, I danced TONS of salsa, but now I am looking to build multiple income streams. Poker will be one of them. Though, I will not set any money goals. All that counts are the negative experiences. That sounds paradox in the beginning, but it makes totally sense. In the past I tried to avoid going through downswings, and losing money. I hated it. I used to grind it back for hours and hours into the night. Very unhealty... I was so much into winning money that I ignored any
feedback on proper Bankroll Management and even lost $250 this year on directly grinding 25NL without any proper practice in between... ouch. It's time to switch gears and welcome every uninevitable BS.

We will start back on 5NL with a 30-Stack BRM, with 5 Stack-Shots, for each Limit that comes after this (maybe 40 for 50NL).
I probably mix in some tournaments when I have the roll for the stakes I'm motivated to play. For that I take the
traditional 100 Buy-In BRM for regular tournaments, and 200 for Turbos.

Now to the most important part of this post:

What do I give a fuck about, and what do I give no fuck about at all?

(Short explanation: There's are just a limited amount of energy we have during our days and we don't have enough
to care about every piece of bullshit. Thus, it's important to figure out what we value and what we don't)

      I value/give a fuck about :
      :spade: Constant Growth
      :spade: High Quality Play
:spade: Having tons of fun while playing and growing
      :spade: Energy-Management
      :spade: Mindfulness/Presence/Awareness at any times
      :spade: Mental Strength
      :spade: Efficient Off-table work
      :spade: Proper Breaks

I do not value/give no fuck about :
:diamond: Variance: It's there and we can't do anything about it but accepting it
:diamond: Haters (go somewhere else, you aren't welcome in here)
      :diamond: laziness

Therefore my goals with poker are...

:club: going for what I value, and forgetting about what I don't value
:club: staying within the given BRM (probably the most important part of all)
:club: updating this blog on every day I play (5-6 days a week) and giving a short
update on how things are going, what I'm working on, roadblocks, funny/exciting/difficult hands...
:club: not seeing poker as this serious thing anymore, but more as a fun game with great financial benefits if
played well. I just realized that I've played the best when I had fun playing (fun = source for creativity)
:club: not being focussed on money or variance (there will be no bankroll updates)
:club: taking at least one day off a week and not think about poker AT ALL

      Oh, and btw:
I will probably look out for some people to discuss poker with in the near future.
Shoot me a pm. You should be playing 25NL already.

See you at the Stars-Tables :)

      The 97s Day

I was asking myself on how to structure each post, in order to grow my progress better and monitor what I'm doing. Also, some questions arised on how to start working on my game better. I will start preflop and try to fix the most obvious leaks first, and after that go into depth, from position to position.

Yesterday went pretty good, played 2,457 Hands, with a winrate of 17bb/100. But I must say I'm upswinging hardcore. I won every flip I've got into. But there were also hands I've lost... big hands. Two of them I wanna show, following with some conclusions (that can still be wrong, that's just the way I see it).

#1 97s, some blockers and the attempt to win the pot vs a strong river range

Villain was a regular. My thought process went super rapid. I quickly checked and shoved All-In. My opponent tanks for a while and then calls. I'm wondering what he must have thought about for all that time :f_ugly:
Conclusion: Never try to bluff Villain off a flush, they are way too attached.

      A similar hand was this:

Preflop it's probably a fold in hindsight... Not sure what I've thought. I probably was like "ok he's just 3betting a minraise, can bet all sort of stuff from KQ to AJ at the least". Therefore, vs. his range I thought it's an easy call on the flop. Now... a population read I've got is that the line "bet-check-bet" in position is typically no bluff. Also, this dry river runout leads me to believe he must be potcontrolling with AK/KQ here and goes for thin value on the river. I decided to jam to rep the flush. Good that people don't think a lot about ranges. I wonder if he had the A :spade: ... Though I would not do it again (see first hand)

I think I played the hand good. On the turn we have more than 30% equity and when we shove, to be break even, he just has to fold 5% or so. One could also argue to just call the flop cbet since we get better odds than we need... how would have you played it?

Overall I'm doing quite well on 5NL, but there are spots where I am too aggressive, try to make my opponent fold, or bluffcatch too much. Also, preflop I fold too much vs 3bets, but that's an issue of me thinking that people generally 3bet tighter than on 25NL and above.

I said it's important to not care about variance too much. Still I am finding it hard to apply the concept. Yesterday I played way too much, and decided to take it slow today, really prepare myself etc. It went pretty well. Well... for being coolered like 4 times

Preflop I started to make some adjustments. It's very important to NOT play the standard ranges every hand. There are so many spots in which Hero should deviate from the norm and adapt to his opponents (who are partly exploiting his preflop weaknesses hard). The redline goes straight up without loosing on the blueline in unnecessary stationy ways. Will maybe write more about that later or so.

For now, I will structure my days better as well. I will be much more mindful about everything: Nutrition, Sleep, Exercise, and Mindset/Presence.

Let's see how that goes. The goal is to play 50NL at the end of the year btw. - BUT I will take it slow, follow the BRM, and see if I can make it in that time frame, without any pressure.

Thanks HAHA. Considering I already played 25NL and higher... but I wasn't as good as I thought. Just now I am studying intensively.

But apparently my opponents don't. This "TAG" had reasonable stats and a WTSD of 14%. I thought A9s is a great bluff since it blocks AQ and we can rep J9 and several twopairs and sets. Villain should raise his strong hands on the turn. But yeah... #welcomeon10NL :f_biggrin:
