AQ doesnt put you ahead of too many hands. Id fold AQ preflop to a raise in front every time. Very best case you are up against AJo KQo KJo, sometimes any pocket pair (coin flip with you having the worse of it), but most the time youve got to consider how easy it is to lose your entire stack to AK if an A-rag-rag flop comes.

Best way to not get kicker trouble is not play trouble kicker hands. The only prize for 2nd place is a busted stack. Thats not to say never play them, just fold them to raisers in front of you or raise if there are no raisers yet. If you get played back at let them go. If you get called proceed with extreme caution unless the flop is Q high.
