      I think this was fine, but does anyone think I should have bet rather than checked? Was my call ok?

      I wouldn't have called that river bet. You had nothing but Ace high and it was more than probable that at least one of them had something better.

      It could also be an attempt to steal the pot, but I wouldn't call those bets without at least a pair that has a chance to win the showdown.

      But that's just me :)

      I never call here with A high... if u are lucky he will have another A and u will tie the pot... but very often u will face a better hand... just save ur money.

      you have to be good in 1 of 5 this can work i dont think that you split that often he will not vbet ahigh here, so he has trash like 89 or a pair that beats you. i dont like betting the river no worth hand will call you so c/c c/f depending on pot odds should be fine.
