      Hello everyone,

my name is netgames, I am a 30 year old german poker enthusiast and I work in product management for a big comparison portal.

Like every other year I am starting to come back to poker and as usual I want to document everything in a blog.

My last endeavour was with Spin and Goes, where I went from $0,25 close to $7. I ended the project because I never wanted to join a stable and outside of them it was pretty hard to find a descend coach that wasn't beyond $100/h. My game started to stagnate and after 9 months I lost interest and time. I cashed out, bought a suit and paid the vacation with my winnings.

These are my overall results for the Micro Spin and Goes

Around 4,5k Spins with an avg. ChipEV of 70

Here are some Pics from said vacation

      The what, how and why.
This time I'll be playing NL 6max Zoom. Starting from the bottom. NL 2. Main reason is, if I get stuck there is a lot of content and there are a lot of payable coaches out there. I already had a session with la55i, who I can recommend. As for BRM, I will move up at $125, $250 and $600. Down every time I lose 10 BIs at the new limit. That would be at $75, $150 and $350. I haven't planned further ahead, because even if everything goes smoothly, it will probably still take between 150k and 200k hands.
"You have a German forum. Why do you post here?" - Mainly because I realized, that my active English started to deteriorate. It's easy to be passiv and just consume some TV shows and to listen to some pot casts. But in my everyday life I don't get the chance anymore to speak English.

Here is some trivia about me if you want to talk about stuff:
      I study digital media.
I lived and worked in Beijing for six months in 2016.
I have worked as a math and english tutor for several years.
I am interested in european football.

NL 2 6max Zoom so far.

      That's it for now.

      Best regards,
      netgames

Welcome! Hopefully documenting will be quite literally.

From where do you start you bankroll to get to the the first tier of 125USD? And why do you want to skip NL16?

      Good luck!

      Hi,

I started at around $50, which is what was left after the last cash out.
About NL16. To be honest, I totally forgot. It's still mind bending for me, that there is a new limit in the micros.
So the adjusted version would be:
      Up at $125, $250, $400, $600
      Down at $75, $150, $240, $350

It's kind of swingy and can happen pretty fast. But I guess it is ok. What's your opinion on that BRM?

Thank you for pointing that out.

Were did you go on holiday? I had a crack at 6-max zoom but lost to much of my bankroll and gave up.
About to start the spin and go road for the next few months hopefully I can climb to a good level.
Looking forward to reading how you get on in the coming months and the very best of luck crushing those limits :f_drink:

Over my time, I want to write down some pointers and observations that I have. Most of them will probably be obvious and you will already heard them. But maybe someone will find it helpful. I am trying to follow these as well and I want to have a collection where I can write down my thoughts and reflect.

On NL 2, Call, Call, river donk or minr are always nuts! Or at least no bluff.

We and some friends rented a house in the Netherlands. It was pretty cold during that time. As shown in the picture, I could walk over the lake. But still great. Sitting, sport, cooking and smoking with friends. Highly recommended!

      Ok, here we go.

      20,000 hands - NL2 6max Zoom - EV 11.2bb

      I am riding the upswing.
What I have learnt on NL2 so far is this. If it walks like a horse, smells like a horse and sounds like a horse... IT'S A FREAKING HORSE!
What do I mean by that. I mean that most people, even the "regulars", still think that there is a chance that it might be a duck. Just maybe, just this time, it's a duck.
A majority of my biggest winning pots are from people hoping to see a duck. They just don't want to believe that you could have it.

      Example I

      PokerStars - $0.02 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

      BTN: $2.57 (128.5 bb)

      Hero (MP): $2.70 (135 bb)
      CO: $3.26 (163 bb)

SB posts $0.01, BB posts $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has :Js: :Jd:

In my view, none of these are setups. It's just people not being able to fold good hands. So it would seem, that's it is still true to go big and hard on your top hands.

Here is the statistic overview for my hands so far. Maybe someone has some comments.

I am thinking about boosting my BR with some cold hard cash from the real world and jumping in the mix with the NL5 crew. Will see what I end up deciding.

Till then, good luck at the tables,

      Hi man,

Nice hands. On the 77 hand, I just don't like the flop bet size, since we're trying to get value from Ax, I think you should get at leat 2/3 pot. With such small size, we're giving better odds for the villain to hit 2P, gutshots, etc. Rest of them are fine and quite standard.

      Keep it UP!:f_drink:

I assume the last 2 stats are fold blinds to steal? I would analyze them as imo you are folding too much to steals. Other than that looks good.

Me I like it that way. It's not all about "getting value from Ax", value we can get anyway in 3 moderate barrels until the river since it's a 3bet pot.
I don't see the problem with villain hitting DP, last time I checked, set beats DP :P
Gutshots are not numerous in his range (only 45s and 56s) and the flop bet sizing doesn't seem relevant versus them.

Yes trips beats 2P but what's your range in that hand when it's 3 betted OOP? And what is his calling range in 3bet pot IP? I think a lot of Ax defends 3bet pot (AJs, AQo+) and a lot of TT+ matches the PF agression 3betting OOP. So when Villain hits 2P vs a bigger bet it will be harder for him to fold a larger pot than a small one and will be harder to extract maximum value with your made hand with such a small size. With made hands I think we need to try to stack the villain everytime its possible. With such a dry board, if Villain Calls he will never fold Ax and thats what we want I guess.

Betting big vs Ax makes only sense if you can get it in on two streets, otherwise your betting three streets anyway. That means betting a bit over pot size twice. Hard for Ax to call that.
Plus, AQo+ AJs+ TT+ seams pretty tight for 6max BTN resteal defend. I guess he has more suited Ax, more PPs, some suited broadways and a few SC. With a smaller bet I want to give more Ax and PPs a chance to hang them-self.

      Nice Blog man, I'm subbed!

Good job on crushing NL2. How are your NL5 shots going?

hey gl, i recommend against depositing your own money if you can help it. it just feels better to build it from scratch and to not get tempted to deposit more money if things go badly.

Thanks for the advise. I know what you mean.
Technically I already earned it. I am way overrolled. I still have a lot left from the Spins. I could play NL16/25. I just wanted to have at least 20k hands per limit with a good EV win rate. I think for NL2 that's achieved. I wouldn't have moved up if I had an EV of 5bb.
Basically the weaker the win rate the more hands I want to grind on each limit.
