Well hey, this felt about the right time to introduce myself. I am ladman and all my poker names (i think) have ladman in some sort of form. I'm an experienced poker play in the sense that I have played for a few years and have known how to play since nappies. But only since I discovered this site did I start to take the game semi seriously and discover something called BRM.
What a magical thing it is. I have now had the starting 50 dollar capital and thopugh I have not made massive profits I still have the cash to play with. So in that sense PS is already successful.
This blog I intend to write will start with each post stating whether it is an Up or a Down in my poker career and then following it will be a reason why I'm delighted or why I'm willing to tie a rope to my to my ceiling. First I'll have some catchups briefing how I got here and then I will start posting here every day.
So if this interests you take a read I hope it's worth your while. But regardless I will be enjoying myself and it's currently taking my mind off my AA's that just got beat.

Firstly -- Finding PS-- BIG UP
Well need I say anymore, a website that gives you 50 dollars straight up after registation without need to sample their viagra products is an extreme rarity. Also to make this deal even sweeter they fix you up with top notch videos, articles and a definate favourite of mine the coaching. Genius. Need I say more this place is perfect and 50 dollars I would hope be the beggining of me starting to play this game with some profitable mistakes whilst still having enough to learn.

No complaints thus far, the feeling of contemptment I felt that day was amazing. Shame it didn't last, I didn't even reach the virtual felt before I reached my first down.

First DOWN -- Choosing Titan for my starting capital
Now before I go any further I must make it clear that I find little wrong with Titan or the Ipoker network itself. In fact is by far the best online support crew and its network is very neat and ideal for my level of knowledge.
However arriving at PS I was very keen to follow the strategies to a tee and as a NL and SnG player NL10 tables were the place for me using the SSS. Which is damn (can you swear here) all good seen as if you put $2 in a NL10 at ipoker there is a high chance that you could be the biggest stack on the table. So my SSS career lasted about 2.5 minutes before I realised I am going to have to make the jump already to BSS and back down to the .01/.02 tables. What joy!
      Bad choice :(

UP up and Away-- Who said this poker lark was hard!
Right. So I'm on these micro limit tables and the pickings are smooth patience is needed buts its easier here and small profits are being made and am now about 18$ up. If I'm in profit I'm rarely disheartened.

      20/05/09 DOWN- Beat after Beat
Well over this last weekend I made the retunr to my favoured SnG's at $1 buy-ins and made 10 bucks in no time with patience and using the 3 phase system well. I made place after place after place in the money and even a couple of wins.

But then over the last couple of days it's dried up more than a tub of powdered milk. Time for examples: 3 hands of the 3 SnG's I was in only 20 minutes ago. Which knocked me out of all 3.

      Down -- So Close
Just a quick check in, pretty inactive day but i entered a small 10 man sng satellite into the stage 1 at titan for the ecoop#1 won that.
But then just busted out of the stage 1 15 places from a seat when goin allin with preflop i hit the top pair top kicker to see the turn complete the trips for my opponent. So gutted will talk about this more tomorrow, too tired and down now lol.

Well Hi again, I'm back in the blog section, which seems to be my reconciliation centre. I come here when I have done something stupid. This time it involves losing my stars section of my role :( . Hangs head in shame. Was doing fine decent sample size at $3 turbo's shows that it wasn't a fluke and before too long i was up at 6's which started positively fine. So I started to walk away with that "ching ching" noise ringin in my ears.
So the days passed by and my 2 tabling turned into 4, "damn I'm a beast I'm wrecking this doing 4 tables with time to bite my nails and watch tv in between when I have to make decisions" So foolishly within a matter of a week i was 9 /12/and 15 tabling. But even still I don't believe this was my downfall but it does however mean that downswings hurt a whole lot more. So the day came that it was time to shuffle my way back to the shame of $3 SNG's. That day came and passed but I ignored it. So between that and hapless attempts at glory at an MTT (damn them payouts are so topheavy) I ended up with about $70 which I shamelessly tilted to oblivion. I'm sure everyone says this here, but I'm not a bad player. I can quite comfortably beat the $6 game and would one day love a shot at the 11's. However my remaining $5 at stars does not confirm my self belief.

But now the true quest begins I have 150 from my other half of my roll remaining, I've tried the SSS thing and its not that I find SSS boring, I just find cash boring full-stop. Too monontimous(sp?) Tourneys (particularly MTT's, which I doubt can be played profitably) Can MTT's be played as your main game?? But until I find out the answer to that it's to the SNG's probably at 2 or 3 $ levels at a site which I'm still not sure of yet, I have paypal and moneybookers so my options are pretty limitless. But where to go. And readers of this blog, all -2 of you ;) once you enter this thing, don't think your backing out, I'm going to require your help. There will be posts everyday. Also more importantly enter this blog and you enter my life. Don't be thinking this is going to stay poker related always. Girls and football as well as a drink or two just have to be discussed.

      Hey Ladman,

      Welcome Back !

I'm a heads up player..but I just started my SNG adventure, 3.40$ at stars...i was goin to read as many blogs as i can to get the best of it, and urs is the 1st one i decided to read, so please keep it up :)

its not easy to tell which is ur best game, is it SNG or cash(sss, bss) u really look lost there! its ok..dont give up ..u will find ur way out ;)

I like ur honesty, and ofc u can always be the best player u can, if u always work on ur game :)

Btw those bad beat are so sick ! :f_mad:

looking forward to ur next session, till then take care and GD LUCK !

ya Merry Christmass and happy new year !

      So the quest has begun.

My results thus far, 18 $2.00+0.25 SNG's played.

      Won:1
      2nd:2
      3rd:4
      ITM:7
      ITM flop:11

Meaning my net loss is: $6.3, less than 3 BI which will equate to variance. I did run into some premiums in the first few, and didn't cash in the first 5.

However my account which was $115 is down to $102 with silly couple of Matrix games and MTT's (which I was rolled for), but OMG how awful are those Matrix shitey things. I will still occasionly dip into an MTT but have decided that I won't unless I have/will play at least 12+ SnG's and then even still I only intend to enter $1 ones, shame that the time difference means I'll rarely, if ever, enter the daily dollar which looks a laugh.

The reason why I've only played at 18 is due to the muchos partying, I've reached my PB in eating and drinking levels. And still the house is full of excess. Don't think it's +ev, I keep sleepin. I'll holla later tonight, to shout out me progress on my micro-grind later tonight.

      GL,
      Ladman

Shame about rake. Only thing that kept me from profit ran a lil session of 12 SnG's 2 and 4 tabling at stages, placing 4 times with two wins and 2 3rd places, so a tiny loss for the session:

      OVERALL

      played 28

      input 63
      output 55.8
      gross -7.2

I'll survive with that a tad of Variance my way (I heard that actually happens occasionally abroad) and a sprinkle of coin flips and a garnish of no bad beats and I may well have a money pie.

      Keepin positive!!

Well its time for a session.
Going to watch a video first

Then a 100 hands in ICM trainer.

      then at least 12 tourneys+.

Then some work. Then repeat above proccess ommiting the video for the second session. At current my sessions at the $2 limit have provided these results:

      played 1st 2nd 3rd N/ITM ITM

      50 6 5 10 29 21

Meaning overall profit of a massive $4.50

Also today went to the Dr's with the never ending sniffles (Damn Swine Flu) and on way home got myself a book. Now the last book I read was half of Harington on Hold'em about 18 months ago. I'll keep you posted on how this readking lark goes on.

Im actually finding it hard to make a profit at low stakes on stars, or at full tilt.
I played 6 1.20$ 27 player SnG's at stars today. I have started to find many all in players who just seem to constantly suck out. I'm getting better at picking hands possible and bet accordingly, but I just cant get my cards to stand up against 92 off suit, 72....
Also on low stakes there are many players who get married to card like ace j or ace queen and don't stop to think is he raising me with ace king and I am behind?
I seem to loose more on low stacks than mid stakes, but my BR just cant handle it. I will be interested to watch your profits. My best maker is the rip off 1.20 DorN SnG's, and its very slow going.. 80c profit is not double.....

Much of the reading just doesnt apply to low stakes players where you have players coming in looking to gamble, get lucky and walk off with your small bankroll.

Hey, welcome to my blog. Small place, bit cramped but the booze is good ;)

I'd be interested in knowing your sample size, as either you have taken some hits unfortunately and lost your confidence or you have flaws in your game. And all of the reading does apply as it is due to the fishes that suck out with 9-2 that will 85% of the time pay us as they lost to our QQ. So chin up, stick to BRM and return here to shout out your profits.

Plus if you want to sweat at any time just holla.

Over the past 3 days my profit has dropped, and all up I'm just under 10$ down.
I started with $10 on the account, busted a few .25c multitable SnG's and worked to the 1.20 double or nothings. While I only get 80'c per game, I have found its easier to win at. Usually I will win about 8 in 10, until recently with it being only 4 in 10. Player skill level has dropped, with all in calls being made with and paint or any ace. most of them don't seem to be worried about draws, possible cards being played or their own chip stacks.

I have tried out a few $5.00 DrN games, and won them all. they are much more worried about going all in, but again they will make those calls with a large range of card, while not being willing to go all in themselves with those cards.
They will shove with aces or kings only but will call an all in with a larger range of cards. is an interesting concept really...

I was reading the full tilt newsletter about playing cards at the wrong time. I have started to limp with aces making some top folds along the way, knowing I was out kicked. I dont like coin flip play many low stakes players enjoy.

I do though play cash games with my regions best, 0.50/1$ blinds with small $20 buy-ins. Ill come out 180$+ up. Only 2 times out of now 15 odd games have I left busted. I think its because they have the willingness to laydown hands when they are dominated allows me to do so well.

15 games of cash is no sample size whatsoever, I think you need to choose a game and focus on it. And don't worry about your downswings if you are playing your game correct things will turn or you need to self evaluate.

      played 1st 2nd 3rd N/ITM ITM

      68 7 7 13 41 27

      Overall: -5.4

Lil downswing, I'm accounting it to a downswing as the amount of 4th places was unbeliebable. Not that I will let it affect my game.

However talking along the lines of tilt, I had my worst turn of it on Sunday. As a new depositor to Full Tilt in December, I gained entry into a 10,000$ garunteed freeroll with only 149 entrants. With 45 getting paid and a top prize of 2g's I was laughing. I was cruising with about 70 left and I got it all in with AK against KQ and the Q came on the river. Angered I threw what was in my hand straight at the monitor, luckily enough my monitor is still intact as I only had tissues. Still got some gunk :f_mad: since I had the swine flu so other than possibly a tad of green the monitor fights on.
