What do you reckon the chances are of turning pro? As in durr, negrauno, etc. How many pros are there and how many people play poker? Maybe we could work it out. I want to be as big as dwan (really unlikely though) ha ha. i suck

You don't have to play for hundreds of thousands and be famous to be a pro ;)

This whole question really depends on your definition of "pro"

If you mean: earning a living, by solely playing poker. then i would say its can be quite probably if you put effort into it :P

I know thats the definition of pro but I mean like being aswell known and as good as tom dwan. Its obviously really unlikely, maybe if I don't live for 5 years I might be as good as him :P

I think everyone who has enough patience, is willing to learn and is sticking to BRM can become a pro. When to become a pro also dependent to when you're earning enough for a living. I'd imagine that could be done pretty fast when you're living in eastern Europe. I think 3 or 4 months of intensive playing might already be enough there to be able to pro.

Becoming a star will take much, much more time, and is much, much more difficult to reach.

      Good luck;)

statistically you are much more likely to become a famous football or basketball star than a poker star.

Statistics suck though. statistically Pocket aces should win against 27o, but it doesn't always.

If durrr is your idol then you have no chance to become a pro. Durrr without suckouts would be a broke a$$ nothing more. Thats all he knows in poker is suckouts.

Noone said that pocket aces should win all the time against 72o so this examle is wrong.

      Really?

Then you're stating more people are playing poker than football or basketball in their free time. I find that very hard to believe.

But it's true that... your statement sounds 'pro'.

I don't see how that works though.

      Football players / Football stars = x
      Poker players / Poker stars = y

A lot more people play football to poker players.

Incorrect..............because you need talent to become a sports star. No amount of practice will overcome the lack of genetics.

For poker a lack of talent can be - and often is - made up for by $$$$$$$.

I, for example, could play in the WSOP main event (my wife may kill me however) but even when I was young and fit I would never have stood a chance of playing for Arsenal.
