After a few horrible beats, you start to see monsters under the bed in almost every hand. Especially when you play aces on a paired board.

As played, and considering the numbers on your opponent, I believe if he has your beat, you lost the least amount you could while still being the aggressor. Reviewing his performance though, I'm seeing a showdown with this guy everytime.

      Just b/f line turn.
And value bet the river after.

Sorry to hi-jack but I will give you a hand which is similar to yours and how I played it:

      $0.15/$0.3 No Limit Holdem
      5 players
      Converted at

      UTG Hero ($29.81)
      CO romanouch ($5.55)
      BTN kallefar2 ($29.85)
      SB 4ngryMuppe7 ($36.59)
      BB rehhth ($56.68)

      Pre-flop: ($0.45, 5 players) Hero is UTG K:club: K:heart:
      Hero raises to $1.20, 2 folds, 4ngryMuppe7 calls $1.05, 1 fold

      Flop: 7:diamond: 7:club: 5:club: ($2.70, 2 players)
      4ngryMuppe7 checks, Hero bets $1.95, 4ngryMuppe7 calls $1.95

      Turn: 9:diamond: ($6.60, 2 players)
      4ngryMuppe7 checks, Hero bets $4.95, 4ngryMuppe7 calls $4.95

      River: 8:spade: ($16.50, 2 players)
      4ngryMuppe7 checks, Hero bets $16.50, 4ngryMuppe7 calls $16.50

      Final Pot: $49.50
      Hero shows: K:club: K:heart:

      Hero wins $48 ( won +$23.40 )
      4ngryMuppe7 lost -$24.60

      Flop bet is obvious.
Turn bet is because I am still ahead unless he raises me.
River is because he cannot have a straight, would make very little sense, . He should have a weaker overpair then me.

I think you lost value on your hand.

I just realized yesterday that its way more probable that they have a lower pp than a set, and that I should try and get all in. This works great on rag flops where they think they might be ahead with 99 lol.

I put this new thinking to work and made a nice profit off it.
