      Hi All

OK it's not the WSOP but last night I entered a local pub league tourney which a friend told me about, at a social club.

It had 52 entrants, and though it is officially a free leauge, they spice it up with a £5 entry fee. It was the first time I had played this venue, and I came 3rd.

My £5 investment returned £50, and we even got fed free sandwiches and chips at break time, so even more of a +ev !!

      All the best

      Nice, congratulations!

I'm not clear about one thing though. By chips you mean fries? If so who the hell eats sandwiches with fries? :D :D

Yeah it feals good when you win live.
I've won a couple of £5 buyins at my local pub too :f_biggrin: but that's because it's full of fishy people who think they know how to play because they have 1m on facebook. :s_cool:

      Hi all

Thanks for the replies guys. Lubor c I am guessing you are not English. In a pub its common to put on sandwiches at certain events, and a plate of chips brought out for everyone to help themselves to is seen as a bonus. So in answer to your question, who the hell eats fries with sandwiches, a lot of people do. There were 52 doing so that night lol

Whilst I wouldn't say that chips are fries exactly, your assumption is correct, as "fries" are about the nearest thing anyone does to English chips.

It's not my first live play by any means, but was my first at that venue. I have cashed a number of times at local casinos in low buy-in tourneys. We are quite fortunate in Nottingham. Despite not being anywhere near the size of towns such as Manchester, Leeds etc we have two casinos that regularly hold low buy-in tourneys, and are also home to Dusk til dawn poker club, which I believe is now the largest poker only place in Europe. By that I mean, for anyone that has never been, it has no casino games. It is just Poker.

With that and now places such as where I went Monday night, there is no excuse not to play live poker anytime.

Let me do some translating work

In England, chips = Hot chips, fries
chips out packets (chesse and onion, salt and vinegar etc), ie. what others call chips = crisps

that looks a mess, but hopefully makes sense

      (they're a strange bunch the english.... :) )

wow you must have been bored(unlike me). xD

PS.com needs to add a freebie strategy section: "Incrementing your waistline: How to eat the most free sandwiches and chips in the least time"

      Maybe Raymer could write it.
