I have other study and teaching commitments which take up a lot of time (research, preping for lectures and marking). I want around 30k hands a month which is enough to move up a limit at least.

Melbourne hey? You ever play at crown?
Good luck on your challenge. Also I recommend mixing it up with regs + fish too, as playing with better players improves your game a lot.

      Have fun at the tables!

@SheepeMoose: Yeah I play at Crown regularly (twice a week). Usually just play the extremely soft 2/3 game. Very profitable. I think the play is worse than the play money tables online.

What is an average winrate for these micro stakes? 20-30 bb/100?

      Great first post!

From the little experience I have gained, you should have no trouble at all with NL 2-10. Things get much trickier after that...

At least you should have no trouble with the maths element...

      all the best,

      Tim

NL2 I would expect a 20+BB (Big Blind NOT big bet) winrate is possible if u play with very few mistakes

I'm almost finished my first 5k hands. Going ok. I feel I'm terribly below EV but it will be interesting to see.

Is there a program which does EV calcs for PT3 databases?

All standard hands. For hand 4 what do people think of the turn line and bet sizing?

After the first 5k hands of the challenge I have turned the $25 into $46.49. At hand I hit a streak of hands (Refer to graph). The last 200 hands I ran really well which improved my mood.
I beat the first 5k hands at 20 BB/100 whilst I ran 5BI below expectation (Nice adjusted winrate of 30 BB/100)

I thought I'd post some stats and a graph. Not much else to say about NL2 except I tend to play pocket pairs (TT and lower) a lot more passively. Limping from EP and CCing a lot of raises from LP.

Does anybody like math? Or have done math at college level?

I haven't played online this weekend but I played live at Crown Casino in Melbourne. I was playing a 2/3 game with a $200 buy-in. After about and hour I had only won a few smallish pots and was sitting on ~$270. Then I was BB and UTG and UTG+1 were both terrible poker players and playing any two aggressively. So UTG raises to $20 and UTG+1 calls and CO and BU also call. I look down at AKo. Ponder for about 10 seconds then jammed. UTG folds, UTG+1 calls with 77 and CO calls with K9.
K spikes on the flop and I take down a nice $700 pot. Played for another two hours and ran the stack up to ~$900.
It was a pleasant night which consisted of steak, poker, women and football (my four favourite things). One of the guys a went with won 2.5k on roulette so we were all happy.
      Friday nights are my favourite.

I'm not too motivated to play 2NL but I want my roll for NL200 back again without dinting my bank account.
