      Flop: Bet bigger to protect your hand, and to get more value. this will also make it easier for you to shove the turn.

      Turn: You are going to be pot committed if you bet 2/3 , you aren't going to fold river so Ship it in.

      The way the hand was played, he actually almost getting the right implied odds to make the call on the turn.
      Assuming he has 9 outs (he actually had 15) he has to call 3.3$ into a 9.15$ pot. he assumes (which is very reasonable assumption) he will win extra 3.25$(hero's remaining stack) if he hits the flash.
      This gives him implied odds of (9.15+3.25):3.3 = 3.75:1 which is around 21.05%
      His equity with 9 outs is ~ 20%.

      In order to force him making a mistake when he calls a turn bet you need to bet bigger and this way you are giving him bad odds to call.
      This was math explanation why we should bet more on the turn.
