Agree with above, both hands misplayed, you created your own bad beat on both occasions.

Post these hands in the evaluation forum and get some helpful advice.

Basically first hand don't slow play, second hand don't go all in with AK preflop.

Please read articles on post-flop and preflop play. You will find that you should not slow play a set on a draw-heavy board for one. Cardinal sin.

Go directly all-in with that hand preflop*

first hand: deffinitely go allin on the flop, even though the board is not draw-heavy on the flop.

second hand: the 3bet preflop should have been at least higher, if not directly allin. In this particular case, I think he would have called your allin with such a "beautiful" hand, but you definitely should have squeezed by shoving in that spot. You are supposed to put pressure on your opponents and not the other way around.

im confused though, some people say i go all in preflop with ak, some say dont. i mean does that mean i shoulda pushed all in preflop instead of just the raise, or fold to his small raise?! Agreed i misplayed the first hand

oh and with regards to my first hand, in my defence i am not a complete idiot, i felt that with my pre flop 3 bet i was fairly sure someone must have had a high ace and felt that they would bet behind me on a draw heavy board. i mean, most of the time a 10 8 suited does not call a 3 bet i assume. i understand now it is not worth taking the chance that someone will bet and i wont be so greedy next time :)
