calling in BB with ATC

When you are in the BB, when is it okay to call severely short stacked pushes with atc? I'm guessing it depends on factors...

      1. if the pusher pushes in UTG (right before the blinds) or in SB, so you can determine their range easier (most likely atc) then if they are pushing in middle or late positions (they probably aren't pushing crap here since they can wait until UTG to try to get a better hand)

      2. pot odds (if you think they are pushing with atc for example, then you can calculate your pot odds depending on the equity you have against an atc range)

      3. if you are on the bubble?

      4. your chip stack?

Am I sort of close? I really don't know how to deal with these situations since i feel weird calling short stacks with crap. I was wondering whether anybody could shed some light on this?
