Should i have checked the turn? I didn't want to do so because if i checked, the river would be super hard to play with no information. So instead i made a smallish bet, hoping that i can check down the river.

      nothing wrong there.

if you check the turn he is going to bet it for sure and you wont know whether he is bluffing or what. plus he definitely bets river.

although, for arguments sake in this instance, you would go c/c on turn since he hit his two pair and would slowplay it and then you could fold river and save 2.50

if it goes check check on the turn, i might have to insta call any small value bets on the river and fold to pushes (which could possibly be bluffs)

plus with the bet, i'm also sort of representing the ace? with the call, i can almost be sure that he has an ace or better.

I'm pretty sure the bet is the optimum play. Would you have used the same betsize?

      Hey elhh82,

I would push turn as the A doesn't change situation much unless you think villain can call c-bet with A-high. Only hand that would really benefit from this A is KQ imo.

I don't think J will fold on the turn, so just shove it as you also need to protect your hand from OESD or 1 pair that can improve to 2-pair. Beside, I don't think you can fold on the turn if he check/raises after the small bet, so I prefer to push.
