      I would have played it the same way except maybe i'd just pot the flop. We always have enough equity to go broke even against a made flush with top set, and check/raising doesn't seem very appealing since a 4th spade would be disastrous and there is no guarantee somebody will bet behind us on that ugly flop, not even the pfa.
