      So, I thought I would make a blog to help deal with my losing sessions and bring me down to Earth after my winning sessions. Basically, as with most blogs, this is starting due to an extreme run, basically this afternoon, even though I am on micro limits, I lost 4 buy ins within 5 minutes. 2 of them were all ins from me preflop with QQ, I came up against AA and an A( which hit the A. The others were progressive losings and one of them was tilt on my part.

      My Poker Story So Far

      So, what's my story so far. I started playing poker a year or so ago after joining a poker society at my University, wher eyou just play for play money and win prizes based on your league position at the end of the year. I was just playing for fun and going with a friend every Monday, it was more of a social activity for me, having just started University and everything. Nearer the end of the year me and my flatmates began having a few games a week for £1 or so buyin, and then I played a bit when I came back from University. And then, whilst searching for ways to make a bit of extra cash over the summer I came across this little, beautiful site :) .

      So, I read the articles, I passed the quiz, I started playing on PartyPoker, I read the Bronze articles once apiece and continued playing. I couldn't quite figure out what my best game was, I tried Cash tables and SnGs. I was following the BRM rules that were outlined, but after a few horrible bad beats tilt led me to refuse to move down a limit. This meant I ended up down to $1.50 on my PartyPoker account, trying to grind NL2, I was doing alright, in an hour or so I built it up to $5. In the end I just put myself out of my misery and played a $5 SnG to either put me bust or set me on my way again. I came 4th out of 10, I went bust.

      A few days passed and I was feeling the urge again, my TaF bonus was only $5 off being withdrawable (And still is, might I add, why won't my friends play! I just need $5 :( ) Anyway, my TAF bonus wasn't going anywhere so I deposited $50 into PartyPoker again this morning to try and utilise the Cash Machine promotion. I played a SnG first to get me going, came 2nd after losing out on my TT preflop to AQs. I proceeded to open a few NL4 games and play BSS, half an hour later i'd lost 3 BI on one table, with 2 of them being one after the other, those QQ I was telling you about. Ouch.

      It was then, well after i'd played a $1 MTT (Came 21st out of 99, didn't rebuy though :) ) that I decided I needed to do something. I analysed my game, decided I would study more before I play and open a blog. So here I am.

      My Downfalls

      Now, I may only be a beginner to Poker but I believe the first step to becoming a better player is to recognise your faults. So here they are, exposed for the World to see :D

      - I play SnGs way too cautiously, especially on PartyPoker where you just end up getting blinded out.
      - In Cash games, I find it hard to lay good hands down, for instance, if I have KQs and the Flop comes as KJA or something, I always MAKE myself think that even though my opponent raised he only has a J, even though consciously I KNOW he has that A. I just refuse to let it go.
      - AK, that hand is something I can never let go, and i've lost so much money with it.
      - I need to learn how to play low pocket pairs, from 22 - 88.

      So there they are, my gameplay faults, any help with any of those, or if you notice any more faults with my play, don't hesitate to mention.

      My Aims

      Short Term
      - Study all the Bronze articles again, and cloesly.
      - Play BSS on micro limits profitably.
      - Learn to better my faults mentioned above.
      - Don't Go Bust!

      Mid Term
      - Get to Silver Status on PokerStrategy
      - Clear my $50 bonus on PartyPoker
      - Cashout on the Cash Machine Promotion on Party Poker
      - Win an MTT Online

      Long Term
      - Gold+ Status is an obvious one :)
      - Continue upwards through the NL Cash Games
      - Earn a bit of extra money for University
      - Win an MTT at the Casino

      I will post up my graph shortly, currently I stand at 0.08BB/100h but because of my tilting and switching limits, $21.59 in the red on cash games.

      Thank you for the luck :)

      This is my BB graph, I thought it might be more accurate of my play compared to my constantly changing limits meaning my $ graph is inaccurate.

      This is my first hand I would like to post, just had it a few minutes ago.

      $0.02/$0.04 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

      Known players:
      CO = ($5.98)
      BU = ($3.21)
      SB = ($5.00)
      BB(Hero) = ($5.36)
      UTG1 = ($2.04)
      UTG2 = ($2.24)

      Results follow:

      Hero shows a pair of kings(K Q).
      BU shows high card ace(A Q).

      Hero wins with a pair of kings(K Q).

      Here's another hand, I did notice the flush there but the way he was playing I thought he didn't have it:

      $0.02/$0.04 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

      Known players:
      MP3 = ($3.09)
      CO = ($2.51)

      SB(Hero) = ($6.61)
      BB = ($5.70)

      Hero shows a straight, king high(K 9).
      BB shows a flush, jack high(8 5).

      BB wins with a flush, jack high(8 5).

      I appreciate any comments, critiscism or not. I may post a few hands up later on tonight

      A few more hands from my sessions tonight.

      $0.02/$0.04 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

      Known players:
      MP2 = ($5.00)
      MP3 = ($5.78)
      CO = ($3.77)
      BU = ($6.11)
      SB(Hero) = ($6.12)
      BB = ($4.62)
      UTG1 = ($4.04)
      UTG2 = ($4.61)
      MP1 = ($6.59)

      Preflop: Hero is SB with K, K.
      UTG1 raises to $0.12, 3 folds, MP3 calls $0.12, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.36, BB folds, UTG1 calls $0.26, MP3 calls $0.26.

      Flop: ($1.18) 8, 6, Q (3 players)
      Hero bets $0.68, UTG1 folds, MP3 calls $0.68.

      Turn: ($2.54) 8 (2 players)
      Hero bets $1.52, MP3 folds, Hero gets uncalled bet back.

      Final Pot: $2.54.

      In that hand I was quite wary of that 8 that came out on the turn.

      $0.02/$0.04 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

      Known players:
      SB = ($5.00)
      BB = ($1.42)
      UTG2 = ($3.61)
      MP1(Hero) = ($4.86)
      MP2 = ($4.66)
      MP3 = ($4.80)
      CO = ($4.61)
      BU = ($6.72)

      Preflop: Hero is MP1 with T, A.
      UTG2 folds, Hero raises to $0.16, 5 folds, BB calls $0.12.

      Flop: ($0.34) 6, Q, A (3 players)
      BB bets $0.16, Hero raises to $0.52, BB calls $0.36.

      Turn: ($1.38) 7 (3 players)
      BB checks, Hero bets $0.76, BB calls $0.74.

      River: ($2.88) 2 (3 players)

      Final Pot: $2.88.
      Results follow:

      Hero shows a pair of aces(T A).
      BB shows a pair of queens(Q K).

      Hero wins with a pair of aces(T A).

      In that I knew 100% that he was waiting for the Heart to come out so when it didn't come out I knew I had him beat, not that it mattered much at that point as he'd invested so much in the pot that there was no way he was folding when he only had $0.74 left.

      Well, not had much time for poker today, due to me packing all my things away for when I move back to University on Monday. But I got a few sessions in this evening, and I saw a switch around that was not so pleasant to the eye, for the first time my EV line moved above my Actual winning line, this came after I lost out with AKs to a 5Jo preflop :/

      My sessions have been quite active today, with me nearly hitting a Royal Flush, I had A8s on BB when JQK all of my suit came on the flop, I bet but everyone folded :( I also lost out preflop with JJ to 88, which hit quads on the flop :( Although that pain was shortlived as I trebled up with KK, 3 callers to my preflop raise before someone pushed me all in when he had top pair good kicker.

      I am about to play a $5 Tournament, I know this is bad BRM but it's with friends so this is a "Just-for-fun" type of game. I will update this blog later on with info from the tourney, more info from some more cash games and maybe a few graphs thrown in for good measure. All I need now is to figure out how quickly I can have an Internet Connection set up at my new house on Monday, hopefully a few days at most :)

      Thanks for reading (If anybody is)

      Yeah I noticed that and i'm trying to figure out why the suit isn't showing, is it because i'm copying them from PokerTracker?

      EDIT: Ahhh it's ok now, figured out why, all hands form now on will have suits :D

      That' $5 Tourney went pretty badly, Went out in 5th out of 10 when I called an all in with QKs, he had J5 and hit the J :(

      Playing a $1 SnG at the moment on Party, knocked 2 people out first hand but then lost a lot of my chips betting AKs pre flop. But i'm still quite nicely stacked :) Then it's back to the cash games for tonight haha.

      EDIT: Came 3rd in the $1 SnG, push or fold phase and I had AKs, someone raised before me I raised them all in, they called with A3o and hit the 3 :( Oh well, a $0.40 profit haha.
