      It's fine if you think he'll fold a lot or go broke with a lone spade / a random pair. Check/folding for a potsized bet doesn't seem too appealing and unless he's crazy aggressive which i very much doubt, check/raising is no good either. It's of those decisions that you don't really like nor dislike, but barring a better read you're pretty much forced to bet/call it with only one overcard is his range for limp/calling is wide.
