Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

      Play hand

      $0.05/$0.1 No-Limit Hold'em (8 handed)

      Known players:
      SB:
      $9.24
      BB:
      $12.32
      UTG2:
      $9.88
      MP1:
      $9.90
      MP2:
      $1.95
      MP3:
      $4.28
      CO(Hero):
      $12.55
      BU:
      $1.65

Preflop: Hero is CO with J, A.
4 folds, Hero raises to $0.40, BU folds, SB calls $0.35, BB folds.

      Flop: ($0.9) 7, 5, 4 (2 players)
      SB checks, Hero checks.

      Turn: ($0.9) A (2 players)
SB bets $0.90, Hero calls $0.90.

      River: ($2.7) 2 (2 players)
SB bets $2.70, Hero calls $2.70.

      Final Pot: $8.1.

This is a bad board to c-bet on. So i checked behind.
turn i see a lot of worse aces in his range (i think he would probably 3-bet AQ/AK against my CO raise) and semi bluffs (now every 3 has a double gutter, picked up a FD), anyway i dont want to get 3bet and i choose to keep the pot small.
On the river i didnt see a lot of 3s in his range (maybe A3s,33) and i dont think he would valuebet that big. Backdoor flush is possible, but not that likely. So his line just basically didnt add up so i made the call.

      Hi,

It's not a bad board to c-bet if he's loose enough because he'll miss with a ton of broadway hands, but assuming he's somewhat tight (and most non-insane players are nowadays at microstakes) checking behind is fine.

Turn is an easy call, and when he pots the river the better he is the more it means "i whiffed my check/raise with my set on the flop please pay off". Still since he's mostly an unknown he could also have any A. But i don't think it's a bluff very often, because players aggressive enough to pot two streets into you once the A hits will often just donk out on these flops that look like they missed you.

      Hope it helps.

Does that mean the best play is to fold the river? :)

      Hi,

That means calling without being happy about it is fine as long as he's an unknown, but it'll be become worse if you somehow find out he's usually tight.

      Hope it helps.
