      how could i have played this better. after his donk bet i figured he may have had a flush draw or straight draw so i did a pot sized raise in order to extract value from those hands

      I see no point leaving him with 0.91$ after your flop raise, he is potcomitted anyway (and you 2) so I suggest you stick it in right on the flop if you think he is on a draw.

      While that's certainly true from our point of view, most of these villains just don't understand pot committment. You'll often see them call off 80% of their stack and save the rest for another day on a blank turn, stuff like that.

      So provided you don't think he'll fold if you just jam it's better to do it. However some of them will get scared by the simple idea of you going all-in, in which case if you're not allergic to the idea of shoving any turn even ugly ones, raising smaller might prevail.
