Hand 1:
No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (7 handed)

BB ($6.95)
UTG ($18.40)
MP1 ($3.85)
MP2 ($9.85)
Hero ($2)
Button ($5.30)
SB ($21.85)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J:spade: , Q:heart: . Hero posts a blind of $0.10.
[color:#666666]3 folds, Hero (poster) checks, [color:#666666]2 folds, BB checks.

Flop: ($0.25) 9:heart: , T:heart: , 4:club: [color:#0000FF](2 players)
[color:#CC3333]BB bets $0.1, Hero calls $0.10.

Turn: ($0.45) 4:heart: [color:#0000FF](2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks.

River: ($0.45) 8:club: [color:#0000FF](2 players)

Final Pot: $3.05

Should I have pushed the river? The paired, 3 flush board and the amount of action concerned me.

Hand 2:
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (9 handed)

MP3 ($11.50)
CO ($9.90)
Button ($1.85)
SB ($7.50)
Hero ($2.05)
UTG ($5.75)
UTG+1 ($7.05)
MP1 ($11)
MP2 ($2.70)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9:spade: , 9:heart: .
[color:#666666]1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.10, [color:#666666]5 folds, SB completes, [color:#CC3333]Hero raises to $0.7, UTG+1 calls $0.60, SB folds.

Flop: ($1.50) A:heart: , A:spade: , T:diamond: [color:#0000FF](2 players)
Hero checks, [color:#CC3333]UTG+1 bets $0.8, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $1.50

Should I have c-bet the flop? I didn't like betting into him OOP on a dangerous board like that. Obviously any A or T beats me and I figured there were too many cards I didn't want to see. So I felt check/fold was the best way to go, saving my chips for a better spot. Was that OK?

Thanks,
Kknight

Hi Kknight!

Hand 1) nice hand! That's exactly the reason why you should call here and not push.

Hand 2) make a c-bet here. The AAT is as scary for your opponent as it is for you.

Good luck at the tables!

Hi Puschkin,

So a $0.70 or $0.80 c-bet and a fold to a raise would've been the better line here?

Thanks,
Kknight

No...with a c-bet I mean that you push all-in here. You have only $1.35 left in your stack and the pot is $1.50. Just move all-in. If you make a $0.7 c-bet you are pot committed anyway.

Good luck at the tables!

Hand 2.)
Push All-In here. If your opponent has the Ace, it's bad luck. But otherwise you are way ahead, because with pocket TT and better he would have bet preflop.

I hadn't thought about it that way...thanks for the feedback Berliner! I've run into similar situations with 99 and 88 since posting these hands and have been much more consistent in almost always c-betting the flop heads up. I've been surprised how often I've taken down the pot.

Thanks,
