its more like a psychological movie, if you did not understood it's your problem. I actually liked it :) especially EE part, sure the ending is totally unexpected but because of these turns it have his charm :) in my opinion each has its own taste and opinions about movies, same was with cloverfield, for most it was shitty movie, but for some (and me) it was a film of the year. Some movies just have its own viewers, just because you have different taste i think it is wrong to say that you shouldn't watch it. :) no offence

Those "nonsenses" are the psychology :) most of the turns are unexpected, well as i remember :) its kind'a mindf**k you don't know what to expect, when you think that you got the idea and know what is going to happen something weird appears, or happens. I'm not saying its really good movie, but i did enjoy it :)

Ok, If you find those "turnovers" interesting I guess you enjoyed the movie then..
Seemed to me like putting atomic disaster into middle of Smurfs..
I was enjoying first...maybe even half movie.. But when "whisperers" from other planet or where got involved it turned down all mystery and became nonsential..

I wont even talk about poor performance of Nic Cage/I like him a lot in general/
And those wierd setups.. I mean.. Would any thinking reg/human/ do all the shity stuff in forrest alone with stupid woman + kids ? / i mean.. kids, really ?he brought kids to the forrest ? / .. and.. do that all in the night.. I mean.. lol..
I wasnt even scared cuz It had just so crappy ideas :/

only her mom understood what the hell was happening, therefore she was in there, someone was following both kids, therefore he had to take care of them. It's not supposed to be scary, well i think, and now i know why you didn't like it. simple at that moment you should have been watching porn instead of this film. you had totally different mood. hey shit happens :D

I ll try to implement it in real life.. When my kids will be in danger, when they will be followed, I ll bring them to the place where the followers were seen many times before and then leave them in unlocked car and go away.. Instead of leaving them in the city with many ppl around .. If im rly that worried about them I d even pay some armed guards If i ll decide to go make some investigation.. Sorry bro..

What are those filmmakers doing out of us ? monkeys ?

I'm yet to see Knowing, and this thread (along with a few reviews) will probably make sure it's not going to happen in a movie theater. Nicolas Cage is a good actor, someone else must've screwed the movie up. I'll watch it even if it's just to honestly say I have, and will make up for myself whether or not it sucked. Consequently I'll post my opinion here for myself to read, over and over again.

Concerning the question of taste, yes, it is different. But there are certain movies, like Solaris or Requiem for a Dream, which are proven masterpieces. And there's garbage you can hardly sink below, like Planet Terror and Dracula 3000. In the world of cinema, the quality of a movie isn't measured by its budget or number of superstar actors. It's measured by the quality and structure of the story the movie is telling. It's measured by the consistency and realism that help you immerse into the story and not be reminded every scrawny second that you're staring at actors on a set in front of a camera. The attention to detail, both by the director and the actors. A little eye candy is a nice bonus, but some directors make the mistake of centering the movie around special effects which results in fancy looking films about nothing where you keep watching just because you can't believe the entire movie can possibly be that stupid and then bang, they roll the credits.

Poor acting is probably the worst aspect in a movie, worse than skilless camera angling, worse than cheap special effects, worse than worthless story development. It's like having the director periodically slap you in the face and yell "hey, this is just a movie, none of this is real and I never intended to make it resemble anything real". And you just sit there thinking what on Earth am I watching, people don't act like that in reality, and they wouldn't in those circumstances. Of course, for that you actually need to know what people act like to spot bad acting, but usually it's fairly obvious.

Now, that was a short summary of what I look for in a movie. Hopefully Knowing won't fail all the criteria, although I'm prepared to suffer for the sake of cinematography.

If you're trying to kidnap a kid, would you try to do it around others when others may see you? listen for your self... armed guards? your kid is in danger, would you find armed guards in your simple life? don't think so. you know some local thug? i don't think he would be interested in such deal... just sum it up. in such situation you would act totally different, had dirty minds, and lost interest in the middle of the film. Just let to decide for others :) some of us got it, some of us don't

Guess u missunderstood me.. ;) I was talking about situation If my kids were in danger.. I d never bring them to middle of the forrest, where the ppl, who are trying to kidnap them, are hiding.. Moreover, leaving them there in unlocked car? shouting : "please, no1 here to protect me, come n kidnap me" ..

Well, I used armed guards just to make it easy to see that its way more secure then bringing them with you;) . I m sure there are security agencies even at the place where you live;)
      Enjoy re-reading, before reply. TY

Anyway, I dont like to fight over things that most probably cannot be decided..
Personal opinion A vs personal opinion B.

      So, to end it.
By saying its the worst movie ever made, I didnt mean it was the worst movie ever made. I have no idea what that is.
By saying that, I meant that the PLOT is rubbish :)
I personally dont recomend pople to watch it.
      End of story

My friend convinced me to go and see this instead of Slumdog Millionaire. I've not seen Slumdog Millionaire yet, but I know it's better than this, as i'd have found sitting in complete darkness for 2 hours more bearable than this film. It is truly awful, at first I liked it, then it got ridiculous, I was hoping the ending would save it. It didn't. In fact, the ending made me feel like the director had punched me in the face and said "I'm smarter than you!". I can't even describe the feeling I had when that ship descended down, it was like a mixture of horror, humour and despair at who the hell thought that up.

It's unbelievable just how bad I thought that film was, it's making me angry just thinking about the plot. It's just so patronising and you can tell the director was thinking "Hmmm, well I can't really think of an ending, but if we shove some aliens / angels in there it's bound to make everyone happy".

I like the part where everybody cept' the kids died. Maybe that's what ACTUALLY puts people off... They see themselves as ordinary people who didn't get chosen and ended up dead...

I also liked 2012... Everybody (except small few) died...

      Death FTW
