      I think folding there is the right play but what hand range would he be donkpotbetting there?

      He tried to limp from UTG and called your raise, so it could be some overpair, already made set or even straight. Don't think it's a draw, because he would check it to call your cbet, which would be definetly smaller than pot bet.
      Reading ranges of such a stations is impossible, but if he goes wild you can be sure - he has something.

      Agreed overall, donking ranges vary wildly from one player to another, these situations are some of the hardest to hand-read on cold. Folding the first time is usually safer especially with the stacks the way they are, you can consider calling or raising later on if you notice he's doing that with a high frequency.
