Is my block bet completely pointless? In retrospect I'm not sure which goal it should accomplish here. I'm pretty sure he could call with worse like QJ or pocket jacks, but there are many weak aces in his range too. My bet also prevents him from bluffing with his flush draws, but I guess he wouldn't try that regardless of my action as he was playing passively.

Should I just give up this pot when I don't improve? Check/fold turn and river?
I think my flop bet is necessary because it will take down the pot from time to time and make the flush draws or random gutshots to pay. Even if I get called there are still 5 cards to improve my hand and the backdoor flush draw.

Hi =) Indeed, you have to cbet this board, because of the reasons you already stated.

On the river, if you really think he's paying you off with worse Q's and stuff like JJ or KT, I like making a small bet, but I'd make it even smaller, lke $3.5 - $4. There are many weak aces in his range indeed, but there's also stuff like Qx, JT, KT. And since at least some aces bet turn, I think his rane will be more weighted towards stuff like Qx.

And by betting something like $3 you don't have to be good all that often anyway =)
