      7 was just such a scare card for me. Completed quite a lot of draws he could have called the flop with. Guess by checking I also showed a lot of weakness and he may have taken the initiatve to make me fold. I also felt that if he did make a straight, he would bet it, since there is a flush draw out there to protect against.

      Should I have fired a second barrel/ called?

      I would bet like $0.2 and fold to a raise and if he calls again place a small blockbet on the river.

      I don't think you can do anything fancy against this pot bet though, calling is going to put you in difficult river spots and raising is stupid. This is why i would much prefer to bet/fold.

      I agree, you need not worry about making an unprofitable bet there against a 40/4, he'll call again for sure with Tx and spades, and he might not even fold worse pairs especially if you make it so small. I'd probably just make a normal sized bet myself and confidently fold to a raise from that passive guy. However if he doesn't raise I'd probably half pot non-T non-spade rivers for value again.
