Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

      Play hand

      $0.05/$0.1 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

      Known players:
      BB (Hero):

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8, 8.
2 folds, CO raises to $0.30, BU folds, SB calls $0.25, Hero raises to $1.20, CO calls $0.90, SB folds.

      Flop: ($2.7) 3, 5, 7 (2 players)
Hero bets $1.80, CO raises to $3.60, Hero folds, CO gets uncalled bet back.

      Final Pot: $4.5.

i thought that the raise was signalling an overpair and he may have a club in that overpair that had me beat.

I'd just call preflop. We have a good hand for multiway pots and we have position on the likely SB fish. If we squeeze here we'll get 4-bet off our hand by CO sometimes, most likely SB will call even if CO folds but even then we'll be up against a player with a wide range and flop overcards to our 88 very often, which will make it tough to play correctly.

As played on the flop it's fine, CO could have any overpair with or without a club, it's a bad spot for us.

      Hope it helps.
