      Well the board is pretty damn scary is the reason you checked the river, which is also why check/calling to a decent sized bet is horrendous. If you check it and they don't bet retardedly small, just fold.

      When you bet you're basically hoping his range comprised of 99-JJ quite often, since everything else beats QQ on the turn. And since better hands won't always raise the turn (8x often will but might not fearing 89, 4x usually won't raise in fear of 8x, neither will all two pairs / sets hands in fear of all straights), you can't really narrow his range down to 99-JJ unless you believe he's simply calling with a very tight range preflop (read: no middle suited connectors). That's true for most tight/straightforward regs MP1vsUTG2, usually not true for everybody else. You decide from there whether it's worth the valuebet or not, against an unknown I likely wouldn't bet.
