What is underdog? ¿Que es underdog?

      Hi... I´m reading a book and I don´t know exactly what is the translation for Underdog and Dog... Can somebody help me?. I know what it means, but I don´t have a word in spanish.

      Help!!!

      Hi elquimico and welcome!

      The term underdog is used to describe any situation where you are NOT favourite to win. My personal favourite recent example is New Zealand's recent World Cup peformance where they were an underdog versus all three of their opponents in the group stages (ie all three of their opponents were considered likely to win, New Zealand was considered likely to lose).

      A more relevant example is where you have AK v AA. In this case, AK is approximately an 11.2:1 underdog/dog as AK only wins ~8% of the time in this matchup.
