      Hello,

I will spend a week in London. I am visiting my ex girl friend who is having internship there and i was wondering if someone can recommend me a nice place we can go together with her - bar and dinner or club etc.

I am staying in the London City, so it would be good if it is located nearby.

It should be some nice place but of course not the super classy and hyper expensive London City type of restaurants etc...

Also can you recommend me what is worth seeing in London?

      Thanks
      Ivan

p.s. if you live in London and would like to hang out for a drink let me know. I am always open for meeting new people

      Hey Ivan,

I am not from London and I was just there once. But I had the same "problem" when I was there with my wife. We were impressed when having a walk through the district Soho. There are plenty of shops, restaurant, bars and smaller clubs

My recommendation: Just take a city map, walk to Soho and choose by viewing.
My wife and me did this in the afternoon, we found a restaurant we liked and we reserved a table for the evening.

Just go to 1 of the casinos and get drunk there every day while gambling.

If you go to a steakhouse try to go to Aberdeen Steakhouse, with the red lights. They have very good meat usually, try to avoid the green scottish steakhouses, been there a few times but never had a good meal.

On Leicester square there's a mexican restaurant called Chiquito. They have good food and pretty big portions. Also the atmosphere in the restaurant is pretty nice.

You should definitely go in the Eye of London, it's pretty cool to see so much of the city, especially with good weather.

I don't know a lot about clubs, but if you look around a bit you should be able to find a few. Keep in mind that most regular bars/pubs close around midnight though, it's pretty annoying when you're used to leave the house around 11 to go to a bar.

Actually there's lots of good things to go to. Just check if there's a lot of people inside. If it's busy it's good, if there's nobody there don't go in. If you want fine dining, contrary to popular belief, London has lots of great restaurants, I especially liked L'Autre Pied, it has 1 michelin star, and it's like 100GBP per person for 7 courses with wines. The food was excellent and waiters were really nice aswell.

I don't know a lot about theatre, haven't even been to 1 yet :( If you wanna go to a cinema I would recommend the Empire Cinema at Leicester Square, it's quite famous and just a really nice cinema in general.

And if you plan on using the public transport, the Underground works great. Just make sure you buy an Oyster card and not the day-passes. The Oyster card automatically deducts the money from the card and always figures out the cheapest way. If you use a day pass you always pay the maximum for a day, but when you use the Underground only twice a day or something it's not worth it.

      Hi,

if you like ethnic food ie Middle Eastern, try Edgware Road near Marble Arch.

You can kick off at the Wetherspoons pub around the corner from Marble Arch tube at the bottom of Edgware Rd for a nice reasonably priced pint of real ale. Then wander up Edgware Rd. checking out the restaurants, then pop into the Victoria Casino for a spot of poker.

Also there are some nice places at Shepherds market, off Picadilly towards Park Lane. A really good Indian restaurant, and some good Al Fresco dining.
The pubs are good too. Its not far from Palm Beach Casino aswell.

Be careful of the tourist traps ie Soho, full of rip off merchants. Some of the pubs are OK tho. One of the best is the Lamb and Flag between Leicester Square and Covent Garden.

For the club scene, buy a Time Out from any newsagents, they have all the info for any musical taste, plus much more great info.

      Have fun!

Hi, I agree with Yoghi about the London Eye. Its awesome, great views. If you want to do other touristy shit then you have a almost too much stuff to choose from, Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, Tower of London, Madame Tussauds, Science Museum, Natural History Museum, The Tate etc.

Most people seem to love going round Camden market too. If you go there check out Cyberdog.

Anyway, as for restaurants go there are plenty of good ones. I would say its good just to wander round and take your pick of whatever looks good to you at that time. I pretty much go to a different restaurant every time I eat out and am rarely disappointed. Some awesome places in the Leicester Square/ Soho area, just have a look around.

When are you coming to London then? The heatwave we were having recently has luckily subsided a bit now to more bearable levels :D

I'm surprised it's still so hot here even with the bit of rain we got.

By the way, if you want we can go to a restaurant and grab a few drinks somewhere afterwards? Would be nice to meet you.
