I did the call on the flop because of the 7.5:1 odds and some implied odds.
Was the call on the river ok?

Well, the call preflop was questionnable. You can raise to isolate.

Flop play was weird. Calling was alright I guess. Another option can be bet 1/2 pot and take the pot down right there, and if not, simplify the situation. A weak K would flat call and you could still go for set mining with a bigger pot.

Your turn bet was okay. It was not raised and to me it's a sign of no straight there. Maybe a OESD with 47 or 78 but definitely no gut shot.

On the river Carloss81285 made 1BB bet again so it is most likely that he/she had a weak K and was scared by the possibility of a straight.

With a set of 5s I would raise for value. If Buerger_Lars re-raised you big then he/she had a straight (on the turn, or on the river with K4, 47, or 78). If he did not have the straight, there is chance that he/she or Carloss81285 pay you off with something.

Anyway with a made set you should expect more than you got there. And there were plenty of oppotunities to simplify the situation preflop or on the flop.

      Thanks for the answer...
I think what you wrote was possibly a correct type of play.
Funny thing is that carloss81285 had set K.
I have no idea what he was trying to do there but I guess I ended up loosing less than what I could have had.

That WAS a surprise... You never know what's coming in NL10!

If you raise preflop u may get out of this hand even cheaper.

      Good luck!

      Howdy,

Calling flop seems fine to me, but just because you got so great odds.

Turn is ok, you should have the best hand, so get value out if it.

I think you can raise river for value and most likely fold to shove, because I don't really think they both have so many 4x in their ranges unless they are really loose, but even then it's worth giving a shot, because they could have a lot more Kx type of hands.

      Good luck!

This, except I don't like calling the flop 3-way even with those odds, if we're behind we have 2-outs and even if we're ahead they might continue to be weirdly aggressive all the way, just cut the leaks on the flop and move on.

      Hope it helps.
