What is the range you think he will PFR and then flat ?
notes on how he plays each hand will help you determine his range here.
      probably AQ , 22-TT , suited connectors ?

logically AK , JJ + will reraise here for value , maybe he will flat with a tricky AA ?

What do i beat on the flop that will call me behind ?

Ace high flush draw (4 combination)
      22-99 , less 55 (7 x 6 = 42 combination)

      what am i behind ?

      56s(diamond)+ (4 combination)
      55 , TT , QQ ( 9 combination)
      AQs(diamond) (1 combination)

Why is someone with aggression over 2 suddenly calling me on the flop IP?

could he be drawing ? or has he already have a made flush ? or he has something like a set and is afraid of the flush ?

What is the purpose of check/ raising the turn ?

will he fold a made flush here ? a set ? maybe TPTK ?

his stack is too small for you to really make any play.

i think when he calls the flop i would c/c c/f unimproved on the river if his stack were deeper.

the 9 of spade does give you extra outs to a straight , but if he has a made flush , that straight won't win you the pot. if his still drawing to the flush and you make the straight with the diamond its costly too.

i think aggression on the turn here is read dependent , if u know his call 3bet , fold to flop cb

if he calls 3bets often and do not fold to fold cb , i think i will consider double barreling . if say he doesn't call 3bet often and / or fold to flop cb often , i think i will c/c or c/f @ turn

Very tough hand because of the stack size of the villain.

Usually I will 3bet more, say to $1 against a 50bb mid-stack just to reveal our hand strength and tell him we are committed preflop.

As played it's very tough indeed. I would do the same thing as you did and ch/fold the turn, simply because our flush draw outs might not even be good.

noup, I´d played the same way
Since you have both hand that has showdown value or if it is behind then likely enough outs to improve I´d also c/rai turn to either try folding out better hands, like Q6 or smt :) or get called by worse hands, like KT with K :diamond:
Both ways you either see showdown and can win the hand or taking down big pot
