:diamond: The Good Life - Poker Blog :diamond:

      Well hello again everyone!

Like I promised, I'm back with a new and, what I hope to be, permanent poker blog. I had a very good experience with my summer blog, lots of ups and downs and thankfully more ups :f_cool: .

The name of the blog is inspired by this song:

'The Good Life' is something anyone aims for, especially 19 yo teens full of hopes and dreams like me ;)

      Now something about poker:

I'm starting off on NL10 Rush, playing BSS. My bankroll is now $325, which is extremely comfortable for this limit. I hope to reach NL50 by the end of the year and have the option to(@vonki: not necessarily do it :] ) withdraw $300 from my bankroll without having to drop down in stakes on a monthly basis. In other words, if I need $300 I have them. If I don't, I'll use the money to climb faster.

I guess this introduction is enough. If you want more info on me, visit the other blog or my profile in the community. Btw, if anyone wants my Skype, PM me. I'm not gonna post it on forums. I'm off to my first session of the month.

      Cheers,
      Manu.

So it's time for my first update. I'll usually post the graph, hands and comments from last session.

      Hand #1

I feel I kinda turned my hand into a bluff. But the pot is big enough to justify this move imo. I get 2:1 odds and I might even get called by some FDs, KJ, QJ. No reads on opponent but any competent player would most likely fold too AQo there.

Just want some thoughts on betsizing.I don't think checking the turn is an option as we want to get it in as easily as possible on the river and we still have plenty of money behind.

      ______________________________________________________________

I guess those are all the hands I am not really sure of. I'm thinking of playing some MiniFTOPS events. I'll try to satellite into 2-3 events and this is the list of possible events I came up with:

      Event #1 Wednesday $20 + $2 NL Hold'em Sep 08 21:00 ET
      Event #5 (1r+1a)Friday $20 + $2 NL Hold'em Rebuy Sep 10 13:00 ET
      Event #7 Friday $20 + $2 7-Stud Hi/Lo Sep 10 21:00 ET
      Event #10 Saturday $20 + $2 NL Hold'em Rush Turbo Sep 11 17:00 ET
      Event #13 Sunday $30 + $3 NL Hold'em Sep 12 17:00 ET
      Event #18 Tuesday $20 + $2 NL Hold'em Turbo Sep 14 17:00 ET
      Event #25 Thursday $20 + $2 7-Stud Sep 16 21:00 ET
      Event #28 Friday $30 + $3 Razz Sep 17 21:00 ET
      Main Event Sunday $70 + $5 NL Hold'em Sep 19 17:00 ET

Stud and Razz only if I manage to play some hands (not very likely). I'd really like to qualify for the Rush Event. Gonna have to set up a schedule for playing the satellites. I have one question though: How many tries should I give a sat? I don't want to go out of BR to play them but it's also unlikely I'll win a ticket on my first try. I was thinking like 1/2 of Event Buy-in. Should it be less, should it be more? Do you recommend using FTPs, Iron Man Medals or FTPA Credits?

That's all the poker for today. Good bye!

      Manu.

      Hey there!

I see we're kind of in a similar situation, both playing NL10 rush FR atm :) And we both have sort of similar goals of reaching NL50 by the end of the year. I'll be following this blog on a daily basis, hope there will be lots of updates too :)

Don't know whats your usual daily/weekly volume, just asking cause I'm interested in your progress since we're on a same path!

GL in reaching your goals, wish you all the best! Maybe we can even work together and do some hand/session analysis over skype or put in a sweat session every now and then. Let me know if you're interested!

I'll probably update after every decent session. I play ~9k hands/week. That's what I played last month but I would like to go for more in September.

Sure, I'm up for some reviews and sweat sessions. We'll talk more about this on Skype.

Today was decent and managed to put in 1.5k hands. Also, I got $50 bonus to clear from Full Tilt. It could have been more but I'll take this too for now. I'm probably manage to clear it in less than a week, yet I have until 23rd September before it expires. Should have made it like $300 in 3 weeks if they really wanted me to play more. fish love

Here is the graph for September so far:

As you can see, there are some decent swings in there, one of which is this hand:

      Grabbed by Holdem Manager
      NL Holdem $0.10(BB) Replayer
      SB ($16.42)
      BB ($15.65)
      UTG ($3.99)

      UTG+2 ($9.09)
      MP1 ($18.51)
      MP2 ($11.17)
      Hero ($22.70)

      Dealt to Hero 7:diamond: 7:heart:

fold, fold, UTG+2 calls $0.10, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.10, fold, SB calls $0.05, BB checks

      FLOP ($0.40) 5:club: 6:heart: 7:club:

SB checks, BB checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero bets $0.35, SB calls $0.35, BB folds, UTG+2 folds

      TURN ($1.10) 5:club: 6:heart: 7:club: A:heart:

SB checks, Hero bets $0.80, SB raises to $2.40, Hero calls $1.60

      RIVER ($5.90) 5:club: 6:heart: 7:club: A:heart: A:diamond:

SB bets $4.25, Hero raises to $19.85 (AI), SB calls $9.32 (AI)

      Hero shows 7:diamond: 7:heart:
      (Pre 71%, Flop 93.7%, Turn 95.5%)

      SB shows 6:spade: A:club:
      (Pre 29%, Flop 6.3%, Turn 4.5%)

      SB wins $31.04

I honestly consider it a cooler. Sure, I could have isolated pre, bla bla bla. On the turn I know he has a hand but the question is did he flop the straight? I decided to just call and reevaluate. On the river I kinda have the second nuts so it played itself imo. Hope to cooler someone for something like 400bb soon :f_grin:

      Hand #1:

No reads on opponent, only 16 hands with him and nothing weird with his stats. Too weak fold?

      ____________________________________________________

      Hand #2:

17/17 over 19 hands with AF=inf. Not much but nothing fishy either. Too weak again in you opinion?

      Grabbed by Holdem Manager
      NL Holdem $0.10(BB) Replayer
      SB ($9.01)
      BB ($14.45)

      UTG+2 ($53.74)
      MP1 ($4)

      Hero ($12)

      Dealt to Hero J:heart: J:spade:

      FLOP ($2.15) 9:heart: 5:diamond: A:spade:

      UTG bets $1.90, Hero folds

      UTG wins $2.01

The other hands mostly played themselves today, no really though spots.

And here is somewhere I had a bit of FPS. I had reason for doing it. A raise on the turn is rarely a bluff but I have the nuts and I wanted him to catch up. He still has some money behind so I give him the option to bluff into me even on the river. I thought villain might have a 9 and caught trips on the river and he will bet it if he has it. If he had pure air he is not going to call a value bet so only strong and air is going to bet into me, thus I get more value.

@jb: Thanks for the vid. That Margo (I hope I caught her name correctly) reminds me of an acquaintance. She looks a lot like her and kinda has the same attitude. :f_mad: . Btw, have you watched RTs Stud 101 video yet? Oh, and when can I expect you to switch to BSS? :f_cool:

I used to watch The Good Life with my parents in 1975 when I was 9! Really funny. Reminds me of me and mrsjb.

Will watch the stud video soon. It's so long!

Hoping to switch to BSS in October/November.

I only play 2-tables because I use a laptop. Maybe I could 4-table because HEM stats have autoresize. I used PT3 for a while and I just couldn't see anything with 4 tiled tables. I prefer playing in the evenings when there are a lot of players online on Full Tilt. That's the time when you see players going broke with TPGK on a dry board. :f_love:

Hmmm... I actually haven't been online on Skype for some time. I just sign in, see who's there and then sign out :f_biggrin: . I'll try to be more active there too....

      Hello everyone!

No updates recently due to lack of material. I've played some hands (actually more than usual) but didn't get the chance to do a decent review. I'll post the graph so far anyway and I'll come back with hands later.

That above EV is from this hand:

I didn't even notice I won it until after a few quickfolds. My stack was too big and I opened hand history. Turns out I hit runner runner. About the check: I wanted to give him the chance to bluff into me and maybe commit himself with draws and worse hands.

      Grabbed by Holdem Manager
      NL Holdem $0.10(BB) Replayer
      Hero ($10.05)
      BB ($9.50)

      MP1 ($14.40)

Hero checks, BTN bets $1.40, Hero raises to $3.40, BTN raises to $12.70, Hero calls $5.45 (AI)

      TURN ($20.20) 3:heart: T:diamond: 9:club: Q:diamond:

      RIVER ($20.20) 3:heart: T:diamond: 9:club: Q:diamond: J:diamond:

      BTN shows A:club: A:spade:

      Hero shows K:heart: K:spade:
      (Pre 18%, Flop 10.0%, Turn 13.6%)

      Hero wins $18.86

I'm gonna play some cheap MiniFTOPS sats today. Already got knocked out AJ vs T9o vs A5s so they are very much beatable. I just need my hands to hold up 2-3 times. Fingers crossed! :f_biggrin:

Yeah, I did. I picked it up from the post office about a week a go. I didn't expect it to arrive so quickly honestly. If you think something might be wrong, just email ps.com support. I'm sure they'll help you out!

Opponent has NEVER 4bet in 115 hands and also has folded to just 1 4bet. I know I have decent pot odds but if he doesn't have AK in his 5bet shoving range (he never 4bet) I'm doomed. I played it safe this time... should I have called though?

Easy raise IP preflop. I hit set on a somewhat drawy board. Standard cbet. I get called. That 6 is not a blank. Yes, I might get called by worse if I bet again but I did not want to set myself up for a turn c/r by a worse hand. So, although surprised by SBs check (only a drawing hand makes sense and any chance he has of winning the pot is aggression counting on his equity against my range) I check behind, like I said. River completes a backdoor flush and some more straights. SB checks again. Now I put him on some 9, maybe some scared 2 pair, TT, JJ. So I bet hoping he would call with all those holdings and maybe that Q made top pair for him. Surprise, surprise! C/r on the river. He would 99% bet out on the river any hand that beats me as he doesn't have any clue if I'm going to bet the river as I seemed to give up on the turn. I decide to make a call, also considering the odds I had. Now that I look at it, if he had played AA the standard way, he would have been stacked on the flop.

      The graph, as I promised:

Nice and steady AI EV going up even if I'm way above that in reality so I'm not worried about running extra-hot! :D
