      Hi everyone and welcome to my first ever blog !

      First a quick introduction, my name's David, 28 years old and from Ireland. Like alot of people I picked up poker in college playing with friends, learned enough basic strategy to win at those games and left it at that. A couple of years ago I joined up here and got $50 at Full Tilt and played a little but lost the bankroll pretty quickly :)
      Earlier this summer I got an email from PS offering a second $50 at Party Poker. This time I decided to take it a bit more seriously, so I've been studying over the summer, beaten NL2 and my balance currently stands at $125.

      I decided to start a blog to coincide with the new school year mainly as a way to motivate myself, but also as a quick way to become active in the forums and meet other players - playing online is so impersonal.

      Ok, lets talk about goals. I'm going to set out a two year (yeah I know, pretty ambitious right?) roadmap of where I'd like my poker to go:

      YEAR 1
      NL4 -> NL10
      Time: 2 months, Bankroll: $125 -> $250

      NL10 -> NL25
      Time: 2 months, Bankroll: $250 -> $600

      Move $600 to a site with 100% deposit bonus and rakeback

      NL25 -> NL50
      Time: 4 months, Bankroll: $600 -> $1200

      Pay for some Pro Coaching

      NL50 -> NL100
      Time 4 months, Bankroll: $1200 -> $2500

      YEAR 2

      More Coaching

      Grind NL100/200

      Build Bankroll to $10,000

      YEAR 3

      Go Pro or Spend Money on wedding/house/whatever life brings up

      So there it is, yeah I know it's way to early to think that far ahead, but I don't think it's a particularily ambitious plan and it's just another way to help keep myself motivated.

      Now, on to the more realistic subject, the Monthly Goal:

      This Month:
      Play at Least 25,000 Hands at NL4
      Play at 5BB/100 for the month
      Earn 200 Party Points to qualify for all the Snowball Freerolls
      Post my biggest losing hands every day

      and since I'm making this blog at the end of Day 1, here's a quick summary of how it went:

      Hands Played: 732
      Balance: + $6.08
      High and Low Swings: -9.55 => +13.27
      BB/100: +22.77
      Party Points: 4.45

      That's it, hopefully I'll be able to keep this going for as long as possible, tomorrow I'll post some more general musings on poker and whatever else.

      Thanks for reading and stay tuned :)

      oh, sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes, I don't do well writing off the top of my head...later entries will be more structured I promise!

      Evening everyone, time for a quick update on Day 2.

      Let's start with some figures (monthly total in brackets after)

      Hands Played: 1193 (1925)
      Balance: - $1.87 ($4.21)
      High and Low Swings: -17.98 => +1.17
      BB/100: -3.92 (+5.47)
      Party Points: 4.59 (9.04)

      After the positive start yesterday I had hoped to keep the honeymoon period going for as long as possible, alas that was not to be. However all is not gloomy, with 750 hands played tonight I was at almost -18 dollars and managed to grind myself back to a minimum loss. Plenty of positives in that.

      I did promise to post my biggest losing hands, so here we go:

      Another day, another rollercoaster ride, another love/hate relationship with AK :)

      Stats so far:

      Hands Played: 1295 (3220)
      Balance: + $6.84 ($11.05)
      High and Low Swings: -2.89 => +9.78
      BB/100: 13.2 (8.58)
      Party Points: 10.42 (19.46)

      Pretty good day overall, my EV adjusted for the day is almost 15 dollars, so that's another real positive. Playing some decent aggressive poker, but need to work on adjusting my play towards specific opponents more.

      I'll look over my session tomorrow and post some hands then, but for now here's an example that shows that once in a while the breaks go my way :)

      Hey man, good to see another micro grinder :s_cool: I've managed to get up to NL10 so take a swing round my blog if you feel like it.

      One suggestion on the hands you've played: You're overplaying AK waaaaay too much, it's really not as premium as you think. When you get it all in preflop the best you can be hoping to face is usually QQ+ or AK, but the majority of the time it is AA or KK, so it's a major -EV move. If you're facing a raise, obviously you 3bet them, but if a 4bet comes in from them i'm folding AKo and maybe flat calling AKs in position. If you're the original raiser and someone 3bets you i'm usually flat calling them.

      Good luck at the tables :)
