      i would have played exactly like you. by betting the flop, we build the pot unnecessarily and we lose value from hands we beat if they choose to fold.

      you played it fine
      you can consider betting flop and going from there, but taking pot control line and then calling him down is also fine
      you likely don´t get 3 streets of value anyway so better not to take b/f flop line hand that has showdown value
