From 10 $ to 1000 Challenge

      My name is Gabriel and I always wanted to make a poker challenge for myself but i could not since my salary doesn't allow me to cash in more than 10 - 20 $/month.
      This month I deposited on Party Poker 10 $ and lost it...than I deposited another 10 $ and decided that I would only play 1-2 $ MTTs.
      I did and in a weekend I won like 200 $ which my girlfriend asked me to cash out as we needed the money.
      Couple of days ago I told myself that maybe I could make it a challenge to get from 10 $ to 1000 so I deposited and started playing.
      I lost some tourneys and then won 2nd place and $ 31 in a 1 $ regular MTT. My challenge was to be harder as i can't respect the BRM rules so i continued playing 1-2 $ MTTs.
      Today I registered for a $ 2 Speed Gtd $ 1.5k and ,with some luck and I like to think with some skill, managed to get 2nd place out of 820 ppl and got a nice prize of $ 195.
      Now I am happy as I got from $ 10 to $ 230 in 2 days and happier cause I can continue my challenge respecting the BRM rules.
      So this is the beginning of my challenge and I will post mostly for me evolution as time will go by.

      Good luck! Great run, getting two good cashes in a row, it's pretty hard to have consistency in Party MTT's. It would be interesting to see if anyone can. The large fish pools + shitty blind structure doesn't help a good player IMO. Tourneys end up being just a lottery in late phase because the blinds become so big compared to the stack sizes, in particular when you got stalling fish that make the bubble last two hours.

      Hello Guys,

      Got a quick questions cause I want to know if I proceeded right.

      $10/$20 No-Limit Hold'em (10 handed)

      Known players:

      UTG2 = ($3000.00)
      MP1 = ($3000.00)
      MP2 = ($3000.00)
      MP3 (Hero) = ($3000.00)
      CO = ($3000.00)
      BU = ($3000.00)
      BB = ($3000.00)
      BB = ($3000.00)
      UTG = ($3000.00)
      UTG1 = ($3000.00)

      Preflop: Hero is MP3 with A, Q.
      2 folds, UTG2 calls $20.00, MP1 calls $20.00, MP2 folds, Hero calls $20.00, CO raises to $60.00, BU folds, BB raises to $230.00, 3 folds, Hero calls $220.00, CO calls $180.00.

      Flop: ($750) Q, J, 4 (3 players)
      BB checks, Hero bets $780.00, CO folds, BB calls $780.00.

      Turn: ($2310) 3 (2 players)
      BB raises to $1,990.00(All-In), Hero calls $1,980.00(All-In).

      River: ($6280) 4 (2 players)

      Final Pot: $6280.

      Results follow:

      Hero shows two pairs, queens and fours(A Q).
      BB shows two pairs, jacks and fours(A J).

      Hero wins with two pairs, queens and fours(A Q).

      This was the first hand in the tourney so could you tell me if Its the right thing to do or not ?

      in my oppinion you should limp, its way too weak for AQ, you were lucky that there was a raise, even though if it wasnt the first hand, you should fold to 3bet, but i think raising pre for something like 100-120 would be good and after that:
      1.overshoving to a 3bet
      2.folding to a 4bet

      and on the turn i would bet slightly less something like 500-600, so that fish might even call with a 4-x :D but played good postflop etc.
      thats just my oppinion :)

      Hey, just in case you didn't know, if I were an MTT player i'd be running away from PartyPoker as fast as I possibly could :D Seriously it is such a bad platform for the micro tournies, if I were you i'd move to Pokerstars :) Good luck!
