      Hello everyone,

As I received my free starting capital week ago, I decided to write my own blog, mostly because I want to track my progress or regress. Another point to make this blog was that there's not many micro non-grinders SnG blogs, at least not many suitable for me. Then maybe someone gets this useful.

So I play poker on FullTilt. Mostly playing 9man normal $1+$0.20 SnG. Sometimes taking shots at turbo and 45man SnG's. I'm not mass-tabling, playing two tables at once at the moment.

Why blog name is 'Fish paradise'?

This was first week, when I played serious with real money and I understood that I'm fish, but anyway I made little profit in micro limits. That's why I think, that micro limits is 'fish paradise', you can win a bit, and if you loose, that's not so bad.

      First week report (11.09-19.09.2010)

      SnG's played: 30
      In the money: 14 (1st- 2 , 2nd- 7, 3nd- 3, discussed deal- 2)
      Profits/looses: +$4.84
      Bankroll: $54.84

I'm pathetic at HU play, so I discussed deal, but I won't do it anymore, as I need to practice it. Those two times I found it profitable.

As I'm playing poker for fun I won't set any goals.

      Cheers.

      Second week report ( 19.09.-26.09.2010)

      SnG's played: 12
      In the money: 6 (1st- 1, 2nd- 0, 3rd- 5)
      Profits/looses: +$0.16
      Bankroll: $55

As you can see, I played just several SnG's, that's because I was pretty busy this week.
I'm getting bored a bit, because of break-even. Today ,maybe, I will take a shot at 45man SnG,because if I win I can take nice money, if I loose.. then it's nothing worse than loosing in 9man SnG.

This week's most important thing was that I got my drivers licence at last,so suitable song for that!

As you see there's no hands posted till now, that's because I am to lazy to learn from specific hands. Even I understand that I make a lot of mistakes during play, almost every hand I get in. But today got hand with I got busted and I could call it bad beat. and I think, that I played it decently.

      Third week report (26.09.-02.10.2010)

      SnG's played: 35
      In the money: 18 (1st- 6, 2nd- 3, 3rd- 9)
      Profits/looses: +$10.66
      Bankroll: $65.66

This week has been the best week so far. Got some downswings/upswings, mainly because I started playing two tables at once, instead of one. Also tried some turbos, where I got some cash and in general I'm feeling good about my mindset and play. Also tried 45mans SnG, concluded that it's not for my play style.
Understood that I will start to play cash games at some point to generate more FTP to clear my bonus.

Edit! I cant read properly. But good luck in catching the fish and making way up to the limits. GL.

Any suggestions to make it more comfortable? Simplified it.

They are beatable though. You just need to practice and be good.

Also, SeriousThreat, you'd better get used to 88 beating your KK if you want to play SnGs to win. 10 BI downswings are standard, get used to variance :P
(also I would normally make it 160 preflop instead of 200... normally 3xBB + 1 per limper in early stages is standard).

      4th week report (03.10-10.10.2010)

      SnG's played: 73
      In the money: 35 (1st- 12 , 2nd- 16, 3nd- 7)
      Profits/looses: +$26.17
      Bankroll: $91.83

Mad week. In this week, I started 4-tabling, it's +2 tables as I was used to and that's why I got my biggest downswing so far. But I got used to four tables and my results got better, and as you can see, this has been very profitable week. I'm not so far to move up a limit. :)

But I won't move up a limit in next two weeks, I guess. Because I will switch to cash games. I want to get free $25 in Take Two promotion @ FTP. So today I will learn basic BSS strategy and will try to get something in cash games. Let's see how it goes.

This is my first graph of the first month. (pokerprolabs hasn't tracked three SnG's, that's why it differs a little bit of real situation)

You can make it 200 preflop but the difference is minimal. Raise a little more on the flop (probably 400-450) to protect against flushdraw. Otherwise you played it very well. You are right, TPTK is the nuts on micros.

Luck dominates poker in the short term. You will definitely see more sick shit in your time playing SnGs.

Keep up the good work :)

Well, I don't find rake as serious threat for my bankroll..

I can stand this variance. Though not in last days, as I said I switched to cash games.. It was mistake. I have lost ~$10 since Sunday in cash games, mainly because of rush poker. I find it boring to play BSS, because I played tight and if I raise, there's always fold. No fun. But rush poker seemed interesting and it was, although it is against BRM. So it went very swingy, till I got on tilt.. twice. Because of my LAG play. Hadn't experience that till now. I can feel lucky, that I have lost ONLY $10.

I will start over again. Reset my mindset and sharpen my knowledge and play only SnG's, cash games are not for me. Although, I will take part in Take Two @ Rush poker table. I will be as careful as I can.

And I raised 200, because according to this article , it's good to bet 4xBB +1BB per limper at that blind size.

Well yeah, but I'm too lazy to calculate 2.5BB , as instead I bet 3xBB at that blind level.

and I will take it in mind about proteciting my hand. Thanks!

      Stay tuned! Later.

I won't make normal report this week, because I hadn't tracked my SnG results as always and as I told you I have tried cash games this week.

      Bankroll: $74.80
      Profits/looses: -$17.03

This has been the worst week so far. I lost money in cash games and I'm on stable downswing so far (Last posted graph is updating all the time,so you can see my current situation there too). I'm taking part in Take Two promotion to try to rebuild my bankroll- so far,so good. Also taking part in TaF program (got $25 so far) So lets see how it goes further.

At least in this week I spotted my biggest mistakes, need to concentrate avoiding these.

That article is quite outdated. Make it 3bb. And if you're too lazy to calculate 2.5bb + 1 per limper in the late stages.... stop playing poker

Outdated? How it comes , if blind levels are the same as in that time? But I will take it in mind.

I will not stop playing for some time, so I will make a chart for every blind level. :P

P.S. This week I got The Big Little Tournament ticket @ 50 FTP sattelite. I will read these MTT articles and lets see.. maybe, next week my bankroll will be boosted by $9000 :D

      6th week report (17.10.-23.10.2010)

      Profits/looses: +$33
Bankroll: $107.8 (including Take Two promotion bonus)

So I have completed Take Two promotion,so I included bonus cash too for this week, but I will receive it only on Tuesday.

This promotion was pretty interesting as it was very swingy. I play as donk in cash games and it's pretty fun.
During this promotion, I have earned ~$6. Just because of yesterdays pure donk luck.

Talking about SnG's, it seems like I have beaten my downswing and turned it in break-even. Also, I read that there's almost no difference between $1.2 and $2.25 SnG's, so I took a shot there.. And it seems I'm going to stay there, because my results are good, rake is smaller and prices more reasonable. Though it's against my BRM.

Also, I won't make any weekly reports anymore, because it makes no sense as I have just some dollar difference. And after next week, I won't pay so much attention to poker as I have important things to do.

There always will be my TopShark graph, which updates all the time,so you can see my results.

      Later.

Donk luck hand. Pretty sick and it has been the biggest pot I have played.

Have been a while since last update.

So during these weeks, things have move down and up related with poker. Starting with mindset, ending with bankroll.

      A brief overview of everything:

      Limit: $2.25 9man normal SnG
      Bankroll: $50
      Withdrawn: $60
Mindset: ain't so bad after a break. But still..
      Motivation: Pretty bad.

I would call this graph - a perfect sample of a bad mindset, don't try this at home, kids.

I'm pretty stuck in poker right now. I don't know what I want. One day I think to learn further SnG strategy, second day I think to learn cash game strategy since I see more potential (money) in it. Third day I started to read "The Poker Mindset" and what I'm doing right now... is almost nothing. This sucks.

So as I'm at point zero, I set a goal for a next week. I will play just a one session (4 SnG's) a day with the best mindset and try to get my bankroll growing, so lets see how it goes... This post is a bit for motivational boost.

      Devil - fish :D

      Quick update.

I have regained confidence, that it is possible to gain profit in micro limits. Since last update I was going down and down.. nothing changed.. Got till $35 bankroll on FTP and understood, that I need some fresh air, so I was seeking for some bonuses on other rooms..

So I found that Pokerstars poker school offers SnG tickets for passing the quiz. In three days got 1x $1000 freeroll ticket, 2x $1.2 and 5x $3.4 SnG tickets and in these days built pretty nice bankroll on Pokerstars..

      Pokerstars: $49 (including $10 deposit)
      FullTilt: $38.45

I am playing on both sites at the moment and mixing it equally and got question about this. Wouldn't it be better to transfer money on one room as i can't play on higher limits as my bankrolls are pretty small on both of it? What's your experience? Do you play on several platforms?

I'd suggest you stick to a single variant, as they are very different. I know you are trying to clear a bonus, but bonuses are really difficult to clear when starting. I fell into that trap several years ago, when I deposited $100 and trying to clear the bonus my BR went down to $0.30. I cleared just $15 of the bonus. The only reason for the sites to offer bonuses is to lure us to play more and more, and if we go bust, to deposit more.

Right now I take any bonus happily, but will not go out of my way just to clear it. Hope you do good.

Some people consider their total BR shared between sites to decide the stakes to play. They don't actually transfer the money... they simply add their bankrolls.

I don't; I see them as different ventures or companies that I don't like to mix up.

However, I must say that the rakeback in FT is a big difference, especially in the microstakes. Say you play in Stars 100 sng's @ $1.20 and you have a ROI of 10%, you'll have $12 earnings + $120= $132. If you play the same tourneys at FT with the same results you'll have $132 + $5.40 rakeback= $137.40. That's a ROI of 14.5%, instead of the 10% at Stars.

At higher stakes rakeback is important, but the VIP prograrm at Stars makes up for it. Stars also has some cash rewards that you purchase for 1FPP but that is aimed at players with a lot of volume, which will be difficult for you to achieve while playing just 1 or two tables.

      Hope this helps.

I will keep money on both sites and play them as independent from each other.

So 2010 has passed.. Played poker from September (4 months), so will do some review and future scene..

      FullTilt graph

      PokerStars graph

      Withdrawn: $125 (including TaF bonus)

      Bankrolls:

      FullTilt: $12 (10 BI)
      Pokerstars: $9.60 (8 BI)

So definetely I'm loosing player, so I have very small bankrolls at these site, so will be playing just two tables from so on and concentrating to improve my game and build up bankroll, that's pretty it. I will update this blog very rarely..

      Later.
