      Hello

I'm brad and welcome to my blog. I'm gonna start a new blog here as I've had a few months off and want to restart my poker career again.

Why? because I don't like working but I like poker.

Here's my last blog if anyone is interested to see my last effort.

I'm gonna mix it up, play whatever I feel like SNG/MTT /FR/HU/6max cash (all NLHE).

My last blog was all about grinding up a roll but this time the focus is on improving my play and hopefully winning some $$ will be a result of that.

      Now here's the Rules:

      BRM
      MTT:
Up to $5 BI: 1% of roll
      $5-$15: 0.75%
      $15-$24: 0.5%

      SNG:
40BI up to $10 then up to 50BI

      CASH GAMES:
30BI to 50NL then we'll see, it'll be ages until I get that far (if I do).

      ALL:
      divide by 3 if high

      Misc Rules:
I'm also going to keep a tally of the times I go out of BRM, weeks when I study less than my 1/3 of the time I play, times I play when tired/tilting (other than 25c sng to do some suckouts)

I'm also gonna keep a tally of times I go against my gut instinct, i'm going to record whether gut instinct turned out to be right too, just cos I know it pretty much always will be.

post bad hands for ridicule so people can "rate my pooker"

every time I get a point I'll add a km to my next run (gonna try run 2x a week)

      Study Goals:

-review 10% of hands played, write notes on regs and post tricky hands.

-watch at least 1 hour/week of videos

-do sweat sessions with friends (hopefully weekly) and talk poker all day at work with sam

-buy a mouse, a lamp and some speakers

The ultimate goal/dream of all this is to quit my job and go full time pro in march 2011.

Write about how I owned you for stacks yesterday at our live game. The people want to hear about it.

write its been almost a week now so time to right another entry in the ol' bl'g

Yes the rumours are true, despite sam (hairynupe) being the biggest donk ever and being near book-like in his readabilty, he fully stacked me on sunday.

I had 22 on a J2Jxx board and after about 56 minraises we got it all in and he had J2. sick

lost my whole weeks grindings that day which was kind of "the sux" but it's all good because...

Online i've been playing 10NL 6max for almost 3k hands this week and I've been on a pretty good heater. running at 24bb/100 hands. I've completed my study goals so far too so its a really good start.

      Here's a graph:

I'll add this weeks rate my pooker hand tomorrow

This is a pretty bad one. This is the sort of thing I used to do all the time. He tanked for AGES on the river though

      CO ($10)
      Hero ($10)

      Dealt to Hero T:heart: A:club:

fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.30, fold, Hero calls $0.30, SB calls $0.25, fold

      FLOP ($1) 2:club: 9:club: 4:heart:

SB checks, UTG+1 bets $0.55, Hero calls $0.55, SB folds

      TURN ($2.10) 2:club: 9:club: 4:heart: 8:club:

      UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $1.50, UTG+1 calls $1.50

      RIVER ($5.10) 2:club: 9:club: 4:heart: 8:club: 5:heart:

      UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $3.50, UTG+1 calls $3.50

      Hero shows T:heart: A:club:
      (Pre 59%, Flop 27.4%, Turn 20.5%)

      UTG+1 shows 9:diamond: 8:diamond:
      (Pre 41%, Flop 72.6%, Turn 79.5%)

      UTG+1 wins $11.30

At least it wasn't a whole stack.

Otherwise still running sick as. 30bb/100 after 5k hands now

And in the real world running quite well too. ran 7km on thursday and 5 yesterday

thanks man. Bought some weights today too, see if i can get less weak

It was a public holiday in NZ on monday so me and 2 friends decided to grind some MTTs. We made a deal to share profits in a 70:15:15 split so we could lower the varience a bit.

We started with the early doubles 5+1 entry and I think my min-cash of 7.22 was the best for those. We also played the double duece (20+2, 200k gaurantee) and a $9500 gaurantee.

I ran real deep in the double duece to come 25th out of 10k entrants for $546 (first was $32,000). It went quite smoothly with no real danger of not cashing and I had a comfortable stack until the very frustrating last hour or 2. I ran card dead for ages and watched the average stack slowly creep up and pass mine, every time I opened weak I'd get 3bet and everytime I was strong I won the blinds. Eventually I got in about 5BB with 88 and lost to KK.

I think I played it OK but maybe a bit too tight. There was a LOT of loose 3betting going on though so I dont think I played it badly. At the end of the day it looked like there were some very good players there and I probably didn't have much of an edge if any.

In retrospect I think I should have switched to a long ball style of play against a feild who wouldn't want to gamble.

I've never been so gutted to win such a decent prize.

It's funny how momentum seems to be a huge part of it. Sometimes you just hit the wall and cant win a pot.

      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anywho I'm shifting up to 25NL tomorrow night as the play at 10NL is so bad I feel like chancing my arm. If shit hits the fan i'll drop back down.

Cant be bothered playing tonight, 8 hours straight took it out of me yesterday.

This lost me half a stack in the double duece. It's the only hand of the tourney I'm NOT happy with. Should have open shoved but sam whinced in the passenger seat and I dropped my sacks. Feel free to comment/criticise

Being an MTT pro/specialist I think folding the KQo to the 3 bet or shipping are the only two options. Both have merit but flatting out of position with K high ends up tricky as we saw. Pretty mean run though, gutted not to make a 4 figure cash.

Well I was getting 4:1 so I didn't think folding was an option. Was planning to c/c if I hit, c/f if I missed. Shoving preflop is not an option here cos he has to call. I don't hate the stop n go here but, again, dropped sacks.

Gotta admit the pressure got to me

      MP1 shows J:diamond: K:diamond:
      (Pre 32%, Flop 40.1%, Turn 90.9%)

      MP1 wins $153,254

My thought process went like this:
"He's got me beat here, either a flush or a 6 and he's scared of the flush getting there" *click call*

      "Yep... Soulread!"

Here's my october graph, pretty happy with it of course, 27bb/100 hands

The first 4.5k at 10NL, the rest at 25NL

      Now My october rules/goals:

[]review 10% of hands played, write notes on regs and post tricky hands. reviewed some, not anywhere near 10% but quite a few

      [x]watch at least 1 hour/week of videos

[]do sweat sessions with friends (hopefully weekly) and talk poker all day at work with sam I've been reviewing a few hands but work is very busy so haven't done sweat sessions yet

[x]buy a mouse, a lamp and some speakers

I've strayed out of BRM only once, and it was that luckbox run in the double duece so I didn't learn my lesson.

I'm really happy with how quickly I've got back into the swing of things mentally, I haven't tillted at all yet and i've stopped playing every time my play starts to fade. This is easy when you're running so well though, we'll see what happens when the 1st downswing turns up or the first upswing turns down, whatever happens first.

I've been doing my running. Went for a 7km run today and saw an eel in the river when I was running over a bridge. I also saw a black shag catch a fish. It was pretty sweet

Keep it real, like an eel

Nice post Brado (I assume thats your first name). Good to see you are running well. You played the hand very badly and should have folded on the turn. It will be interesting to see your progression through 25nl against top players like The Pecos Kid and Robotussin Bot. GL

      Lesson #1: Valuebetting.

This made me laugh, had a session before my session and was running like a god so I decided to mix it up and stray away from my standard betsizing.

      Hero wins $46.16

      Lesson #2: The hero call.

The same session. I don't know what this guy was doing or what I was doing. I'm pretty sure a very -EV call but since it worked it's classed as a soulread/hero call

      BTN shows 5:heart: 5:club:
      (Pre 52%, Flop 11.0%, Turn 4.5%)

      Hero wins $32.31

went to google and had a look for some free no deposit casino bonuses so that I could try out this new "dragon strategy" on the roullette tables

It worked for a bit, got my free $25 up to $113 then lost it all after making a mistake and betting on 14. I should actually only bet on the corners and edges of 14.

Hello, Here's my graph for the first half of movember:

Which brings my total graph since the start of the blog to:

      Mix of about 5k 10NL, 5k 25NL and 3k 50NL all SH. A total of 15.2bb/100

Haven't acheived a lot of goals yet and to be honest haven't played amazingly this month but that's gonna change now.

I've had a VP/PFR of 26/22 which I think is slightly too high although i'm
      not too sure.

finally started playing on paddy power last night and my initial thought is that it is a lot softer than FT, I'll put in a better update tomorrow but i'm very tired so bed time

      I've posted here for discussion.

A classic example of loose preflop play getting me in tricky spots that i'm probably not good enough to manage properly.

Have moved back down and tightened up a bit.

I'm off to wellington today to play a show with my band. Should be mean as, next week though i'm getting my wisdom teeth out so its gonna be grind central.

yeah plan was to c/r but i don't really like it. It was as a good spot for a cbet really. results-wise though cant complain. He had QQ which i'm surprised he didn't bet on the flop, wonder if he would've folded to a c/r.

The gig was pretty casual, we played saturday avo. pretty good crowd though and mean as really. went and saw some other bands saturday night too which was sweet.

you still carving up? i'm playing on ipoker again. Seems very soft but i'm just playing .10/.20 at the moment

      Where abouts are you fella?

And what's the name of your band? Being old I hardly ever go and listen to live music anymore (well excluding stadium rock). Be a good excuse IMO as long as I can get out on a good behavior bond.

      Hey.

I'm in christchurch but my other band member is in wellington so we hardly ever play, we are called "Captain's Log" and we play sort of punk with lame jokes.

that is a song of ours. I'm the ginger one.

Anyway enough band plugging. I'm not getting in half the volume I want to at the moment due to moving flats. At least I've started to play better and string a few winning sessions together though.

Will update better in the next few days

      Hello

Well as I said earlier I planned on grinding all weekend with my wisdom teeth out. Unfortunately I was actually feeling a bit shit so I only got in about 1000 hands at the cash tables, pitiful I know. I was playing quite badly though so I thought it best to give the cash tables a rest and play some donkaments instead.

I played 16 tournaments with an ROI of 300% and total winnings of $572, managed to finish 3rd in a $20, 4k gaurantee cashout, the other 2 begged for a deal when it was 3way too, but they looked quite bad so I decided to play on thus keeping my perfect record of busting next everytime I decline a deal.

Here's a coouple of hands from the $1 rush rebuy I played:

      Grabbed by Holdem Manager
      NL Holdem $160(BB) Replayer
      SB ($7,415)
      BB ($5,860)
      UTG ($13,680)
      UTG+1 ($10,028)
      UTG+2 ($1,500)
      MP1 ($1,860)
      Hero ($35,357)
      CO ($14,870)
      BTN ($1,500)

      Dealt to Hero 7:spade: 7:heart:

fold, UTG+1 calls $160, UTG+2 calls $160, fold, Hero calls $160, fold, BTN calls $160, fold, BB checks

      FLOP ($880) 6:heart: 7:diamond: 7:club:

at this point I typed "I have 77 in my hand"

BB checks, UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero bets $777, BTN raises to $1,340 (AI), BB folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls $1,340 (AI), Hero calls $563

      TURN ($4,900) 6:heart: 7:diamond: 7:club: K:diamond:

      RIVER ($4,900) 6:heart: 7:diamond: 7:club: K:diamond: 8:spade:

      BTN shows 5:diamond: 8:club:
      (Pre 19%, Flop 0.0%, Turn 0.0%)

      UTG+2 shows T:heart: 9:heart:

      Hero shows 7:spade: 7:heart:
      (Pre 34%, Flop 100.0%, Turn 100.0%)

      Hero wins $4,900

And this isn't really amazing but almost 500bb pot in an MTT cant be sneezed at.

      Grabbed by Holdem Manager
      NL Holdem $50(BB) Replayer

      MP1 ($4,930)
      MP2 ($2,985)

So in sumarry I had a serious dose of good luck but to be honest I'm not very happy with my cash table progress. I need to set some goals for this week and get serious again.

      this week:
[ ] Watch "move it up to the sky" part 1.
[ ] Record a 30 min for the sweat sessions videos
      [ ] Buy desk
      [ ] Buy chair
