Míg korábban a pókerrel kapcsolatban az emberek egyből a szerencsejátékra, hamis kártyákra, kétes alakokra és cigi füstös hátsó szobákra asszociáltak, mostanra már, nem utolsó sorban a tartós póker-boomnak köszönhetően, stratégiai játékként sikerült érvényesülnie.<\/p>

A pókert abban az értelemben lehet stratégiai gondolkodással és cselekvéssel legyőzni, hogy a jobb játékos a gyengébbel szemben hosszú távon mindig fölényben lesz. Itt nem létezik egy mindent átfogó pókerstratégia, hanem csak különböző elgondolások vannak, amelyek azonban mind ugyanazon az alapon nyugszanak: matematikán, valószínűség számításon és játékos-pszichológián.<\/p>

A PokerStrategynél a játékosok a No-Limit<\/a> Texas Hold'em<\/a> számára első stratégiaként a shortstack<\/a> (kis letétes) stratégiát tanulják meg, ami azon alapszik, hogy csak kevés nagyon erős kártyát játszunk, és csak kevés pénzzel ülünk le az asztalhoz. Ez egy önálló, hasznos stratégia és megközelítési mód. Ezzel szemben állnak más stratégiák, melyeknél sok pénzzel szállunk be egy asztalhoz, vagy az olyan stratégiák, melyeknek az a célja, hogy sok kezet játsszunk kicsi bankokért, vagy nagyon kevés kezet nagy bankokért. A póker<\/a> több módon is legyőzhető, amennyiben tudjuk és megszívleljük az általános érvényű alapszabályokkal és főleg a valószínűség számítás alapjait.
